rguerra Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Yep. I wonder if they make one for Epiphone and sell one out the back door. One for Epiphone, sell two out the back door. Oh and we can make more by counterfeiting a Gibson down to the serial number and Made In USA branding in the headstock. It would be interesting to get a forensics specialist to see if they are coming from the same factory.

It would be interesting to get a forensics specialist to see if they are coming from the same factory. probably not the same factory, but the same Chinese management contractors or their families in nearly identical factories using the most recently obsolete machinery and production systems. "ah yess Mr. Gibson, we destroys old machines and dumped in bay....so they not be used to counterfeit you product". and on a conspiracy theorists note, I wonder what, if any part, the new branch Gibson China plays in all this.........
midiman56 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 On a conspiracy theorists note, I wonder what, if any part, the new branch Gibson China plays in all this......... Probably not much if anything. The Chinese counterfiet EVERYTHING. All a factory has to do is buy one legit Les Paul, take measurements for the CNC machines, and start churning them out. And Gibby/Epi's aren't the only guitars being copied. We see 'em at the store all the time ... Gibbys, Fenders (tougher to spot),PRS, even Rickenbackers and Gretches (the most pathetic attempts ... realy clueless). Most of 'em you can tell from across the room ... others you can tell from a real one as soon as you pick it up. Others are pretty damn good, requiring taking off back plates and occasionally even lifting pickups to spot them. Most people that are trying to sell these frauds to us express shock and surprise when we tell them we are not interested in buying their guitars. Occasionally some will question our judgement and even our expertise in the matter. Once in a while you'll get someone who will smirk at you and say, "Oh yeah ... what gave it away?" You can imagine how you'd like to hand THIS guy back his guitar ... headstock first directly into his ... well, we just give him his guitar back and wish him a pleasent day! Jim
karine_plays Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 they are "Sct up and In spected" lmao! that says it all!
superjudge3 Posted March 7, 2011 Author Posted March 7, 2011 Not really new....... And be sure, they are not a steal........ too expensive to be firewood they are "Sct up and In spected" I know its nothing new, but I've never seen a fake Slash model before. And the "steal" part was sarcasm. You don't think I was actually endorsing them do you? ;)
pete c Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 I know its nothing new, but I've never seen a fake Slash model before. And the "steal" part was sarcasm. You don't think I was actually endorsing them do you? ;) you posted a link to their web site
superjudge3 Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 you posted a link to their web site Man you people confuse the hell out of me. ;) I posted the link so we could all have a laugh and look at the ridiculousness of it all. That's it. I didn't know you weren't allowed to post links of counterfeits. My mistake!

Jim Going to these sites is both entertaining and maddening. To think that these guys actually get away with this crap, blows me away. Makes you wonder about those that fall for it, too. But the sites never fail to make me laugh. My favorite so far is the "Epiphone" 160e Jone Lennon model. Musta lost something in the translation.
brianh Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Man you people confuse the hell out of me. ;) I posted the link so we could all have a laugh and look at the ridiculousness of it all. That's it. I didn't know you weren't allowed to post links of counterfeits. My mistake! Google and other search engines actually elevate a site's score depending on other links to it, regardless of editorial comments. So when you posted the link, you increased the chances of them selling firewood to some clueless mook. To their credit, the mods deleted the links, but not your cautionary thread. That's one of the things that makes this a good board.
mgrasso Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Makes you wonder about those that fall for it, too. As I am sure most of you are aware of, the majority of Americans are not only idiots, but cheap idiots. I was at a fundraiser on Saturday night. One of the silent auctions was for a Maestro Single Cut. I moved closer to take a look and asked what brand, in unison 4 people chanted, "It's a Gibson!!!" The high bid went for $800. I think that is great for the charity, but I think that the people were being duped by the name. Wow! A Gibson for $800, what a steal. (I know, the new faded are around that price) I can imagine the father coming home with it and being proud that he just bought him a new Gibson. "Uh, Dad, we could have bought it online for $200." I can understand wanting to get a good deal or a bargan, but living on this planet for 52 years has taught me that if it seems to good to be real . . . well, you know. Mark (BTW, by no means am I casting aversions on the Maestro line from Gibson. They are just not considered the top of the line for Gibson)
brianh Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 As I am sure most of you are aware of, the majority of Americans are not only idiots, but cheap idiots. Not exclusively an American trait, but it often seems that way because we have (had) more money than sense for several decades. "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."

Even Henry J. smashed one at the Firebird X unveiling.... Someones gonna be pissed.
