Elias Graves Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Has anybody heard from Gibson regarding care of these torrefied maple fretboards on the new Jrs? EG
Fringe Lunatic Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Is there a finish on it, like on Fenders? If so, you shouldn't oil it, like you would rosewood or ebony. For cleaning, I usually use a soft cloth dampened with a mild solution of Murphy's Oil Soap.

Torrefied wood is becoming popular for use in outdoor environments. I really don't know if there's a finish or not. That's why I'm asking. The owner's manual doesn't say anything about it. EG
