animalfarm Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Just nosing around, come across something.... Holey Moley. BEAUTIFUL!!!! Oh, CRUD - WHICH Guitar? Think, Think, D@mn You!!!!! Man, this is a really cool "Retro" look. I'm digging the Chrome Double ones - you have to envision them with a humbucker ring around them. A definite interesting departure from the "standard" rectangular humbucker. GFS "Pro-Tube Lipstick Pickups" http://www.guitarfetish.com/Pro-Tube-Lipstick-Guitar-Pickups_c_110.html This is the only decent VID I can find so far, as usual, we don't know what Amp or Settings are being used, but it DOES look rather "cool". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_grpSzDimA&feature=related
stickman Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I've seen the singles....never saw the doubles before. Not my cup-o-tea but looks interesting enough.
Gary Moore Tribute Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I've seen the singles....never saw the doubles before. Not my cup-o-tea but looks interesting enough. Vintage make a guitar with these in looked poo sadly
RobinTheHood Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Those would definitely look cool on the right guitar. How do those types of pickups sound? I've always had the impression that the lipstick types were thin and jangly, but to be honest, I've never heard them.
Gordy01 Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 One of my customers wanted a set of these installed into his G&L Strat. The thing I found is that the regular humbucker hole in the pg is a bit big, and so it didn't look too good. The sound was OK. Not really nice, but OK. They may look better in a top install, and possibly sound better mounted into the wood also.
