J-200 Koa
There are some sweet deals on LP Fadeds out there but was wondering if anyone here had tried buffing the finish to bring out a more glossy finish? Short of re-spraying the guitar, is there any way of adding a bit more gloss to the finish?
surfpup
Do a forum search for Virtuoso polish. You will find everything you need.
ChanMan
I have heard that if you post a pic of your J-200 Koa, it will gloss itself..... ... could be a rumor, I don't know......
MikeRom
Using Virtusos on it will result in a satiny finish at best. Still looks good tho -

Thundergod
If you want a shinny guitar you should consider the studio, standard, or traditional. I dont think virtuoso will make your guitar shine like a "normal" standard... fadeds are very nice guitars and really good looking IMO, I would buy 2 of each finish... lpdeluxe
On another forum a contributor said that the "faded" models have a lower price because they have only the stain and sealer applied, saving Gibson the expense and handwork of spraying a gloss finish and buffing. In other words, buffing a faded Gibson will get you nowhere BUT you can spray a gloss finish over the stain/sealer, and sand and buff to taste, in effect doing all the expensive work yourself. Me, I'd be inclined to pay somebody to do it for me, but I'm an old guy and I would want it to look good! Conversely, you can leave it alone. I am plotting the purchase of a faded brown SG, and it will not be made shiney: I quite like the look of the faded. I will put covers on the pickups, but that's a story for another day.
