custer
I'm new here so hello to all. I am going to purcahse a Melody Maker. I think it will make an excellent slide guitar. Any thoughts?
cvansickle
I have one. It's pretty good for slide, yes. Welcome, by the way.
rybass
Great slide guitar! I was actually doing so last night. I have a bigsby installed that really lets the tone ring out with a good brass slide. I don't really like my ceramic slide with it though.
custer
I use a glass slide and I'm thinking with that single coil it should sound pretty amazing!
nolongermike@gibson
Ain't no lie, I'm going to add one to my herd soon, maybe tomorrow if I see one at GC I like. I'm been noodling around on one in the office (there are guitars on stands all over the place at Gibson we can pick up when the mood strikes. YES!!!!). As cheap as they sell for, it seems a no-brainer to add to the arsenal. I'm amazed Gibson put it out again at that price like that. I like the sunburst, but the white is growing on me. If I find that tomorrow, its mine. Odds are I'll find a sunburst, which I like, too. And I guess since we just discussed it on this forum and I'm in the guitar business again now, I can write it off, right? :) I have not actually plugged it in, but something tells me that this thing paired with the uber-astounding little one-knob wonder amp, the Epiphone Valve Jr combo..... is hound-from-hell-howling-time! rybass
Mike, Here is some mm porn for you. I know most of the other members have seen this but yeah they are def well worth it. The pup is an amazing tone machine and I also have it paired with an evj head/cab.

custer
Rybass, that Melody Maker is awsome! Did you do the mods? Was it difficult? Which Bigsby and bridge did you use? Thanks!

elessar820
My fiancee may be picking a white one up for me for Christmas, I was planning on heavily modding it with a SD Hot Rails, coil split/series/parallel wiring and a kill switch, I figured it might make for a loud, no-frills guitar. retrosurfer1959
Great post I did the same thing a while back bought the dual PU melody maker in black thinking it would be a great guitar if I modded it etc. Brought it home plugged it in and loved it as is the only thing I did was change the tuner out and add strap-locks and your right mike plays great through the Epi valve Junior or the new BlackHeart Killer Ant. Ive even taken it out to gigs a few times and played it and people chuckle a little until they hear it then the whole cycle starts again with them saying oh yeah Im gonna buy one and then add ...
