korby
I'm selling a high end Boutique acoustic guitar asking 1,800, and someone wants to trade his GIBSON ROBOT SG SPECIAL LTD. EDITION (METALLIC PURPLE) for it . supposedly played only for an hour . Are these any good , Is the tuning a gimmic , If I dont like it and want to sell it how much could I get ? Ian Martin
Supposively they're pretty *****in'. I don't think anyone on the forums here has the Robot SG (c'mon guys) but those that have the Robot LP seem to have nothing but praise. The tuning, surprisingly, is not a gimmick and works great from what I've heard. But it's simply the icing on an already great guitar. They have a full review (scroll down a bit) at Everything SG, I recommend you give it a read. As for if it is a fair trade...well...I couldn't really comment much. Is this something you really WANT? sunburstfaded
Well actually I have a Robot SG...the shiny red one that looks like a proper SG with the bound ebony neck. I'm still getting to grips with the tuning settings etc, but it is as good to play as the SG standard I used to own. I am still sorting out the action because the bridge and pickups were set up quite high, but I'm getting there. I thought, like most people, that they were just a gimmick, but after playing it at home for a while now I prefer it to my Les Paul. It plays like any other SG and at the flick of a switch you have the different tunings. And they all work really well. But I wouldn't get the purple one...that would be too scary if you try to sell it on.
