Hi guys,

thanks very much for your welcome greeting and answers :-&

yes i was meaning the strap :) sorry, need to improve my english lol and not quite sure how to attach the strap :( i guess this strap is available in a guitar shop..need to inform my self a bit :) i really thought the guitar was complete with this detail so to use a strap on it.

i really like this guitar, i have to say, this sj200 is as well done with red spruce and koa. this koa wood is really nice :0 really like it! now i only need a good amp. can someone give me a tip on what kind of amp is best for this kind of guitar?

musical cheers

For an amp, I like the PA system ("Public Address"). :-)

That is, normally I play my guitar through a soundboard into the house PA system. I used to use an acoustic amp, as a preamp before the PA, to "warm up"and tweak the sound, and as a monitor. At that time, I used a Crate 125D amp.

Now, there are a lot of really good amps out there intended for use with acoustic guitars. I guess it depends upon what lines are available in your area.

welcome, mira. don't apologize for your english! its much better than my second language (which is supposed to be french but, sadly, i can only hack my way through cereal boxes at the grocery store)!

congrats on your new toy. they are sweet and there are many owners here, too that will be glad to share input with you. pics of your new guitar are not only welcome, but strongly suggested!

with regards to an amp, many find the genz benz line very good, though i'm not too sure what is available in your area. take the guitar with you to a shop and test drive a few. let your ear be your guide. good luck/viel gluck!

Hi Mira

For you strap issue have a look at the thread entitled "Strap thoughts" - that may give you some ideas.

As for the amp - I'll start -

I have a Marshall AS50 which is a good utility amp and good for a small venue, pub/party etc. There are many people on the forum with strong opinions about amps, so hopefully you'll get some great advice.

Gurtzi mitanand!!! Hey Mira....welcome to the forum. There is a nice little 60 watt acoustic amp made by a German company just down the road from you. The company is called AER. This is a great little two line amp. So one for guitar one for voice. Very portable.

They even have a portable battery version which is cool.....mobile....

Hi guys :-k

thanks very much for your inputs :-k that's great!

yes i will definitely read the topic about the guitar strap and try to make the best out of it. i think that going to a git shop will be the best way to resolve this problem, then i can see what its possible to do and choose the best option.

about the amp i have a problem here :( i guessed that the best thing is to buy a specific amp for acoustic guitars, btw. i heard about the AER, lots of people think is a good amp to try and they stuck with it, so i will definitely have a look on that one and also at the marshall, they are also very good amps. i think i need to test a few. now my problem is that i also have an e-git :( and i really wanted to combine the 2 amp as a good one is not that cheap here and probably there where you guys comes from not cheap too. the idea was to have a good one for both guitars but looks like is not so to recommended? what kind of experience do you have using an amp for this 2 different guitars?

thanks again to all of you :) really appreciate this warm welcome :)

cheers

You'll definetly want to get a seperate amp for your acoustic. Just for fun I ran my J-45 through my electric guitar amp amd the sound was very thin and it was also prone to feedback. In my opinion, both Crate and Marshall make some very nice Acoustic amps. If I had the need and the money I'd go woth the BOSE L1 system. We got a deminstration of it at the Homecoming this year and I was very impressed with the sound.

I will throw in a couple other amp options for you on the acoustic side. Both come very highly recommended and I have owned both as well. If portablity is important, I would suggest a Ultrasound AG-50. It has both vocal and guitar inputs and is very light weight. My personal favorite is my Genz Benz Shenendoah 200 Stereo Deluxe. It is a 75 lb. monster but at 200 watts it is like a mini PA system.

There is one amp I hear alot about that supposidly works for both acoustic and electric. It is made by Soldano and cost's pretty much an arm and a leg... (since I don't know the exact amount, I am not going to guess, but I know it is VERY expensive.)

I like the Genz Benz as it does everything I need it to, will work in any size room and sounds excatly like my guitar when unplugged.

Wrestled with the same problem not too long ago. My solution was to buy the acoustic amp and a pedal for the electric' date=' to play through the same acoustic amplifier.

[b']Did not work for me[/b] and I eventually acquired a little Epiphone Valve Special for the electrics. I don't gig with the electric yet although this is about to change so I may have to get something a bit louder.

The other option might be: If you know you are gigging at venues with a good PA, your SJ200 will plug directly into it. I mainly gig with my SWD direct into a Bose PA and it sounds fantastic. No need for the Marshall.

Hope this helps a little.

Here is a poor man's (or woman's) electric amp. If you get the AER amp, you can use it for acoustic and vocal.....AND, if you buy a little POD red Jellybean you can use it with your AER as you would any effect or pedal. Neat little trick. Just set it up as any external device per manufacturer's instructions.....nice and the POD has samples of LOTS of electric and tube amps and external devices. Even PRINCE uses this POD for studio work...other talented artists too....good luck....otherwise get a cheap little electric amp like the Blues Jr. by Fender.....nice....

Line6 pocketPOD - it's red, it's shaped like a jellybean. Hmmmm.

Tried it - found it very VERY wanting when compared to the real thing (my Blonde Bassman).

Upside - portable and quite convincing.

Downside - not quite like the real thing.

Overall - a heck of a lot better than carting a valve amp around.

Good call, onewilyfool.....
