Help needed_Gibson Authenticity

Hi All,

I'm thinking of buying my first LP after many years of dreaming,

and I would be very grateful for any opinions or doubts on it's

authenticity. I have yet to view it in the flesh. It's a 2010 Gibson Les Paul Studio Ebony With Gold Coloured Hardware.

Here are some pics though only low res. Price around £765. Looks great though!

Thanks

.

Can't see much in those tiny pics.

Looks legit, but better pics would be nice.

Thanks Guys,

I've since noticed a serial number with the ad, it,s serial no 101400689

and I've checked online, and it says it's definately made in nashville,

so it seems OK.

Does anyone own a Studio, this one is Ebony. I'd love to afford a Standard,

but cant go that far, I also like a weighty guitar so I would not buy one too light.

I've read that the Studio model is kind of stripped down with no beading around the fretboard,

but as long as the precision is there and tone and playability then I'd go for it.

Any feedback would be very gratefully received.

Thanks

Studio is a great all around guitar, you can't go wrong.... If this is your first guitar you are starting ou the right way... A good guitar will encourage you to play and help you. A crappy guitar will discourage you and could lead to giving up all together. If this is not your first guitar but your first good guitar you will fall in love with it and most likely have it for many years.... The Standard will come later, then a Custom, then a historic, then an SG, then an ES series, then a V, then an explorer....etc That's how you build your collection.. :-)

Thanks everyone,

your info has been much appreciated.

It's good to know that the Studio is of 'Gibson Quality'

I'm an old banger at 59 years old and have had copies all my life,

some good ones some not so good and I have promised myself that my next guitar

would be a genuine article and that for me is a 'Les Paul'

So thanks again for all your feedback

Just join the club ! I just bought my first real Gibson also a week ago and I'm 58... Played Strat all my life ( and still have and play one ) but no way I would have quit guitar playing before having a LP Gibson. It's also a Studio, but in dark red. I will have it only next monday. I'm anxious like a kid in front of the christmas tree 4 days before Christmas..Lolll :)

Yeah I know what you mean Big Norm, It's that Gibson feel,

truth is I've never really had an electric guitar that played in tune properly.

And to have a pro guitar like a gibson just leaves me drooling.

I've always liked the gibson tone, love the bluesy deep sustain.

I love the wide gibson neck, plenty of space to move around.

Take Care

  • 3 weeks later...

I've owned a couple of Studios in the past. I've also owned 3 Customs and currently own a Standard Plus and Trad Pro (do I love LP's or what!). Studios are great guitars - esp. older ones. Mine were made in the mid '90's and my wife still believes the '04 model was my best sounding axe. On a side note, I promised it to our son as a wedding gift. He was barely back from his honeymoon before he picked it up. He loves it too.

Welcome to the forum.

The studio is a nice guitar and will do as good as any other more expensive model... lots of people like them more than other models.

If I was going to buy a black les paul it would be a studio, the lack of binding makes them look clean and consistent (sorry guys, I hate how creme looks on black! [flapper] ).
