ScooterTramp
Just got my first Gibson a 69 EB-0 I had been eyeing it in a local music store. I had visited it several times and made my mind up to get it. When I went I'n to get it I was informed it had just been put on lay a way! I was a tad upset but figured oh well I'll get the next deal. Two days ago my wife presented me with the same EB-0. Seems she was the one that put it on lay a way the guys at the store who have known me for a long time had kept the secret. What an addition to my bass collection! It plays like the thunder of the gods! 45 years playing bass and I've found my Perfect ax! Damn I feel 17 again when I pick it up. Thankfully I don't play like I did at
MrNylon
Congrats on the EB0. I had a 69 EB0 I bought in 1970. A real cranking bass. Best of times with yours. I was 18 when I bought mine.

ScooterTramp
I played her at band practice Friday and oh my god! My lead guitar player just looked at me after the first tune and said 'sell all your other basses cause you know once you go Gibson you never go back' Don't think I'll go that far as I've spent years collecting my others but when we hit the stage the EB-0 will be around my neck. Right now it's sitting I'n a guitar stand next to my 70's custom 250 head and 3 15 cab tuck and roll right next to my bed. Woke the wife up at 3am cause I woke up and that damn bass called to me. Boom Boom Boom

Grog
I still have my first Gibson bass also, bought it in early 1974 when I was 18. I went to a local music store, interested in buying a Ric, the store manager pulled out his personal 1967 EB-2 & gave me such a good deal on it I couldn't pass it up. The start of a lifetime of playing Gibson basses. I'm glad I didn't buy the Ric!

Thankfully I don't play like I did at 17 " I have been playing on and off for a little over 30 years. first bass was a 66 EB-3 that I did not like. strings were too high and being a new bass player my fingers werent strong enough to press them down, not to mention I didnt know about the truss rod adjustment....oh well live and learn. wanted a Ric but never saw them in the stores and they were "expensive " for a 15 year old. so I got this "old" 68 P bass ( in 1979 or '80") cheap. I didnt like that either but I lived with it for about 10 years. I finally got a Ric and found "my bass" and I have been playing that for a long time now. bought/sold/returned a number of bass's since but nothing has ever compared to the Ric....Until I find a new Explorer at a GC last week and now its mine.......1 week with it and I think I like it better than the Ric actually it was like 1 day.......I love the neck it is incredible. the P/U's are perfect and it looks killer. I just posted a pic in a new thread.
