Tim Plains
As I mentioned previously, I didn't keep that '54 Custom I posted around week ago. Well, got back from work today and had a message on my machine. It said my guitar was in. Funny, seeing as how I hadn't actually ordered one. I just told them that I'm looking for either another '54 Custom or a '56 Standard. Sure enough, they got this from the distributor for me. A damn fine guitar, I must say. Just playing it acoustically I knew it was a keeper. It felt super light when I picked it up and I thought it was in the low 8 lb range. I thought "wow, this thing is just as light as the R9 is." Then I picked up the R9...and no it's not. My guess is it's just under 9 lbs. I need to go and buy a digital scale again to weigh this thing and the R8 (then return the scale afterwards, obviously ). RichCI
How is that Nashville bridge working out for you? I got rid of the one on my SG Junior because the damned wire kept vibrating and making noise.
Tim Plains
ABR-1. It's fine...so far. The R9's bridge did that when I first got the guitar. I didn't know what it was and it drove me nuts! Here's a good MLP thread about it. http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/historic-reissues/11329-wire-my-bridge-vibrating.html Easy fix. That was one of the fixes I tried but didn't have any luck. I finally ended up in contact with a guy in Texas who was recommended to me by Gibson customer service. I set me up with a modern bridge with some brass reducers inside the post holes so it would fit on the existing posts. That did the trick for me. Zaphod B
Very nice, Tim. How are you liking those P-90s?
Tim Plains
Cheers, all! Damn you !!! Let me guess...'cause I'm a d*ck' date=' right? pick up a webcam or something of the sort. We'd love to hear how these beautiful guitars sound Not likely, dude. It's not a nice thing to say, but I laugh and make fun of nearly every youtube guitarist I see...except for any forum members vids 'cause that wouldn't be cool (honestly). So, having said that there's no way I'll ever post any vids of myself. I'm sure the first comment would be from Axe calling me a d*ck. Funny.... how they called you and told you the guitar you ordered was in! No' date=' not funny. A sucker is born every minute...and this time, it was me. They knew I was looking for one and they rushed to get it in so I wouldn't go elsewhere. Glad they did, though... Does this mean I have go get another one? No, it doesn't, but you know you already knew that you were getting another one... +100 actually... you are giving us hard cases of GAS Tim... everytime! I think I'm actually giving myself a worst case of G.A.S. with each purchase. How are you liking those P-90s? Not liking...loving! You should know, you've got that awesome R4! Everything else I have has humbuckers and it's nice having something different.

surfpup
Very beautiful guitar. Glad it's sounding as good as it looks. Quite a distinctive line in the grain on the back. Makes it easy to recognize should some jealous forum member steal it.
