Tuned Down SJ 200

Recommended Posts

i thought that guy played a southern jumbo or a J45 not an SJ-200.

Aaron Lewis Signature Guitar Press Release

Not that he only has that one guitar, i bet he's got a ton of 'em.

I don't know much about tuning down or aaron lewis but i do know exactly 2 things that would have something to do with it, someone more experienced than me will probably chime in:

- the J45 and Southern Jumbo are short scale guitars

- the SJ-200 is a long scale guitar

Maybe it's his vocal range? Leon Redbone tunes his short-scale CF-100

down a whole step D,G,C,F,A,D to accommodate his voice. So, an open

position C chord form sounds like a concert pitch B-flat.

I was at a music store in New England that had a bunch of Lewis' cast-off

guitars for sale a few years ago. I was admiring a Guild F-50R and when

told to whom then belonged had to ask... who? Never heard of the guy.

Does a J-200 soung good tuned - you bet it does.

Here's Aaron tuned down half a step in dropped D.

Also Slash and the boys tuned down half a step. Im more and more keeping my SWD tuned down half a step when not gigging with it, just so I have a guitar available tuned down half a step at any time, great tuning.

actually he has a 50's style J200 . it belonged to a woman Angie Langford before him . He says she played the heck out of it :) .

it has her name carved into the back of the headstock
