chuckamok63 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Got the JJ Signature MM and for the price, it's a cool a** guitar. Here's the short end of the stick: My guitar had a severe hump in the neck from the 15th fret on. rendering it unplayable with reasonable action. It also would not intonate at this height. Several heat pressings later, it now plays the way a Gibson (IMHO) should. low and fast. The knobs are copies of the old stock/style MM knobs, kind of similar to Fender amp knobs. The copies on this guitar are horrendously bad. They look like they were manufactured by some 3rd world country where molding plastics is a new technology. the potentiometer shafts are knurled and slotted but the receiving end of the knobs is not even knurled, and fits like a bad Barbie accessory (slips off a lot and wont sit straight on the shaft). Furthermore, I'm not sure if the original Melody Maker knobs sat this high above the pickguard but these knobs are floating way above the top of the guitar where you can see the shafts, washers and nuts of the two pots. Very uncouth. The Burstbucker pickup is loud, proud, and unabashed. I only (this is nit-picking) wish they could have reproduced her pickup's cover (the velvet hammers had square pole piece openings) a guy can dream.
