Explorer Pro

Hey folks!

First post here - so go nicely. :)

I do already have a Gibson ('62 SG) - and I recently placed an order for an Explorer Pro - and this order was accepted by Gibson (about 8 weeks before the "discontinued" signs appeared on the Gibson website) - I 've even got a Gibson order number - however, now my dealer has had an email from Gibson saying that the Explorer Pro is "C or D stock and the order may not be fulfilled". I am guessing that this means they are not making any more and are only selling what they have left. Fair enough - a little bit annoying (especially as Gibson have had this order for 2 months), but fair enough.

Anyways....does anyone have any idea of what is going to replace the Explorer Pro? I don't want a standard Explorer as all my other guitars (aside from SG - which is tiny anyways!) are 7/8ths size and a full size explorer would look ridiculous on me!

So - what other Gibson should I get? I don't get on with LPs as I keep hitting the toggle switch whilst playing (bizzare, but still.....). All of my other electrics (SG aside) are floating bridge (Kramer Nightswan, Kramer Pacer (from the 80s!), Morgan Explorer) and I figured that having another fixed bridge guitar would be a good idea - and the Explorer Pro sounded ideal - my Morgan Explorer is 7/8ths size and the Explorer Pro is smaller than standard...but it seems that I can't have one! :(

I wouldn't count on Gibson here...your best bet would be to try buying secondhand.

I know you're in the UK but there are still many US sellers who will ship overseas. It's worth an ask.

eBay, for instance, has a couple:

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37.l1313&satitle=gibson+explorer+pro&category0=

Gbase.net:

Good luck!

Cheers!

I'll have a look-see at those links and if nothing there inspires me, I'll wait to see what Gibson bring out in the new year.
