billy_v
Seller claims "AT" stands for "Adirondack top." This is not correct. "AT" is the factory finish code for "antique walnut," which is natural top and dark transparent brown back and sides. The sunburst finish version from that period has "VS" on the label, for "vintage sunburst." The tops on these guitars are Sitka. I emailed the seller to advise him of his error, but the auction remains unchanged on ebay. Beware, o take care!
BigKahune
. I'm not familar with that code, or I would report the seller. If you're sure of this, you should report the seller.

vincentw
someone suggest to the seller to contact Gibson Customer Service with the serial number, as we can tell him what it means. I actually haven't come across this AT before, so I cannot confirm the Antique Walnut suggestion (although it may be true), without first getting the serial and seeing what he has. The serial number is 93252014 and, according to the label, AT is the "Style" and J-45 the "Model". (The closeup of the top isn't very good, but it's good enough to show that the top doesn't look like Adi.) -- Bob R

Gibson CS, you've not come across the "AT" before? This designation, "AT", was in common use in the early 1990s in Gibson acoustic production. Who knows if it stood for "AnTique walnut", just "AnTique" or something else, but it usually indicated a guitar finished in a "natural" top and a dark-stained ("walnut") back and sides and neck. Also, sometimes the designation was just "AN", for ANtique, or maybe "Antique Natural"?? Confusing! These were commonly seen on the J-30 model, but I think some of the J-100Xtras, Gospels and other models also received that designation. Here's one example: Check out the label: Perhaps a few othes can chime in on this as well, but this is certainly my recollection Hope that helps, Fred
billy_v
Not much to be found on google (is this, this arcane?), but I found a shot of page 157 of Gruhn's Guide, which lists antique cherry, antique ebony, antique walnut, and vintage sunburst as the finishes available in '93: link
eltonwce
Per Gibson 2003 Catalog AT= Antique Walnut finish back and sides.
frenchie1281734003
My friends 93 J-100 Xtra has "AT" on the label, and that guitar is Walnut stained back & sides, but my 94 J-100 Xtra with the centennial label also has the same finish but no mention of "AT" on that one, or for that matter any other code. I am not doubting that "AT" means Antique Walnut, but it does seem an unusual colour code! why not "AW" or would that be confused with Arctic White? Usually the colour code means the colour of the guitar`s top, with "AN" meaning antique natural, or sometimes just "N" for natural, so if you happen to have "CS" it would be Cherry sunburst, but not on the back too! It happened to cross my mind that "AT" could mean "Antique tint" for a slightly more Yellow aged finish. I have done a bit of searching and cannot find this "AT" code listed or it`s meaning, so I would like to see some pics of the 93 catalogue if poss. More research needed here I think, although I am inclined to lean towards accepting "AT" as Antique Walnut. Steve.
BigKahune
. While it seems there's still a question as to what exactly the "AT" code means - judging from the responses, it seems obvious it does NOT mean "Adirondack Top".
