Wally Walrus
Hello All! I recently got a 91 Orville LPC that's really something, but I just found out that there is something wrong with the electronics. As some will note in the picture the electronics were changed outside the factory. There is a service sticker on the inside of the back plate related to some service dated 01/05/2007 wich I think that may or may be not the ocasion where these CHERRY labeled 0.47nF 600VDC oil capacitors were installed. One of the pots it's stamped 4 K. I can't read anything useful on the 3 others, but I'm guessing 400k pots. Now let's get to the practial isssues: 1 The guitar won't clean up very nicely by using the volume knob. It's get too muddy and boomy, losing all of the character of the tone. BUT if you turn the knob close to 0 the tone will suddenly and drasticaly change to a very bright, thin sound. 2 When the volume knob goes down to 0 the guitar won't "cut the circuit" and if you touch the string they will play. So, based on what's on this videos: and I think that 0.47 would never be my first choice for Volume cap as I would rather go wiht 0.22 cap. But I would like some input about this problem with the knob that doesn't cut my signal when the volume goes to 0. Does that means I have to change my pots too? Thank you for the attention
