Acousticologist
I know some stores carry stock of Calton cases. I'm looking for a case to fit a J-45. Any ideas on who to talk to or who to try?

Posted you back in the TRADE section mate. Try Keith at: Calton UK or Mandolin Bros stock a few generally in Staten Island, New York,...if and when they can get 'em. Pretty pricey if you buy in NY State though... US $ 900 plus State tax!! They may ship to Aus and you wouldn't have any State Sales Tax... Calico
I know some stores carry stock of Calton cases. I'm looking for a case to fit a J-45. Any ideas on who to talk to or who to try? I've read on several forums that Calton in North America has recently been delayed in sticking to promised delivery dates. I read that they moved to a new location last year. Does anyone have any information on whether this is a temporary thing? I'll be wanting a flight case in the next year, and I'd prefer a Calton. Calico
For what kind of guitar are you wanting a Calton case for? I was looking for a J-45 too. But if I was going to buy new, I wanted to be able to pick the color combo rather than the colors picked by a retailer.
mking
I understand what you mean about the color combo. I got my case directly from Calton, the metal label on the case has my name (not a retailer's name) and a serial number. My case is for my Martin HD-28V it has the red inside and black on the outside. I have seen some pretty bad color combinations. Keep calling Calton, they will answer you. 6stringTom
I'm also interested in getting a flight quality case for my J-45. Information on the UMGF suggests that there are pretty major problems getting delivery and even return calls/e-mails from Calton North America. They are great cases, without a doubt, but I would not personally risk an order at this time. If a reputable dealer has in-stock to fit your guitar, then of course you know you will get the case delivered promptly. It is noteworthy to me that Elderly no longer carries Caltons, and at least a couple luthiers report shifting to Hoffee cases due to delivery problems with Calton. This is a sad state of affairs for the de facto standard bearer for great guitar cases. I hope they will get the problems resolved. I suggest you see http://www.bbb.org/maritime-provinces/business-reviews/musical-instruments-supplies-and-accessories/calton-cases-north-america-in-moncton-nb-26215#reasonrating. There is also a Calton UK, but I don't know if they are completely separate and still reliable. Depending on your location you might want to check into that. My comments above relate to North America. Gryphon has some Caltons advertised, though not for a J-45. They also advertise BAM cases now, which may be their new choice.
