onewilyfool
So....You guys that are "hard" strummers, here is a question. I usually set my action at between 2.5/32" and 3/32" (My Gibson L-20 is 2/32"!!!) and I get no buzzing or string slap with finger style or light strumming with my thumb nail or back of my fingernails (don't really use a pic) So you guys who like to wail away and strum hard, do you set your action higher above 3/32" (I know one of my buddies, sets his at 4/32") Does this make for a cleaner sound, make the guitar less prone to getting overwhelmed with hard strumming? Would love to hear your input!!
EuroAussie
Wiley, I have my action set at 3/32 on all my guitars and I'm guilty of some hard strumming (think born to be wild for example). No issue with buzzing and a great tone!
onewilyfool
Hmmmm....most of my hard strumming hard picking bluegrass dreadnaught playing buddies have their action a little higher....I thought that was their reasoning....maybe just for more volume with higher string break???? Strummer63
Yeah, I like to strum. My guitars are 3/32 low E, 2/32 high E. No buzzing and good tone.
