Buc McMaster
Have any of you replaced Grover Sta-tite open back tuners with Waverly open back tuners????? Same screw holes or, do you have to patch and drill?? Thanks! I did this very swap on a Gretsch 6119......several years ago........and as I recall the bushings and screw holes were a mismatch. But I did it.....somehow........can't really remember how......now. Check the dimensions of both on StewMac's site to be sure..........

Kypicker
I upgraded tuners on a Martin recently and remember from the Stew Mac catalog (which lists detailed specs for both) that the holes are different. However, I decided to go with the Grovers because of the price and haven't regretted it. I have Waverlie's on another guitar and honestly I don't think they work noticeably better than the Sta-tites. Just my observation...

onewilyfool
Hey Spot...that is a NICE harmony...looks closet kept...those Sovereigns have some bass don't they???? In answer to the Waverly/Grover question....Waverly comes with Ivoroid and white buttons, whereas Grover only has metal knobs.....So just thinking about a little aesthetic upgrade, but don't want to "swiss cheese" the headstock to do it...just thinking.. +1 Why change them Wily???
