Mr. Page sold a lot of Les Pauls while using a Telecaster.

I thought it was an Ibanez GIO!

In all reality if you want to make a copy of Jimmy Les Paul, without buying a 1959 reissue or a signature series Jimmy Page Les Paul.

Get either a Gibson or Epiphone Les Paul. If you get an Epiphone try and get one of the more expensive ones like a Ultra, less chance the maple cap will be a veneer and not a solid piece of maple. The one he was seen using the most was of course the Heritage Sunburst.

Head on over to stewmac.com and grab yourself the Jimmy Page Les Paul wiring kit so you can get all the nifty features like coil tapping and phase inverting.

Replace the pickups with some PAFs or P90s (not really sure what Jimmy guitar had on it)

String it with some Ernie Ball Classic Rock Slinky strings

Of course you can go further into detail in more places, but this should get you a rig really close to Jimmy Page's
