johnnycomelater Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Hi, I acquired a couple I would appreciate any info on. I know very little about guitars and only recently had purchased an acoustic Yamaha and began learning chords on my own. I did some research on the net but with the discrepancies in serial numbering thought I should post pics and ask for help. The first one, according to the serial #, is Production number 0176 made in Korea in Aug of 1989. Gibson Epiphone Serial # Back The second one I got from an older fella who thought he got it in the early 60's. Walnut Headstock Pickup My pic didn't seem to have been done properly so I switched to links. Hope I asked and did everything correctly otherwise. Thank you very much.
GuitarJunkie Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 The first one is an Epiphone S-310. The second is a Gibson SG 1 (made from '72 to '79). Now that you have model numbers, a google search should answer most of your questions.
TattooedCarrot Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I had two of those Epiphone S guitars, S-600 I think. One was white, the other black. They were cheap 80's guitars intended to compete with Jackson, Charvel, and the other pointy guitars of that era. I think I paid about $200-$300 for them new at the time.
