So, do Les Paul forums actually cause G.A.S.

Be truthful...

Do all the pictures people post actually have an affect on you and contribute to any of your purchases?

I'll be honest...yes, they have influenced me. Not any one guitar in particular, but collectively seeing a bunch of plain tops lead to my purchase of a R8 after I had bought the R9. I really like plain tops, seeing all these different pictures of plain top reissues got the better of me, the next thing I know member Silverbursted posts a link to a sale of R8s, the price was right and I bit.

Well, I had a bad case of G.A.S. long before I signed up at the Gibson forum. Although I do want a silverburst Custom more than ever now! Also, I'm always searching for the ideal amp and I never knew about that Egnater Rebel-20 before one of the guys mentioned it in his amp search post. Seems ideal for my purposes although I need to find out more info. So there's $600.00 worth of affect on me from this forum so far.

Thanks to you Tim ( I have to blame someone) I will have me an R8 or R9 before 2009. Its the Euro millions lottery tonight and the jackpot is just over 100million. If vanish tomoro you know I will be in Gibson heaven..

Yes, but I haven't felt the urge to actually buy another Les Paul or, at least, not as a serious consideration. I admit that whoever has the Lemonburst took me very close to the edge until I looked up the cost of one - too rich for my blood!

As strange as it my sound I actually have had my GAS condition in check by coming here and looking at your guitars pics (thanks to Tim and all of the other guys...). Before coming here I GASsed for almost any piece of wood with strings...

In general' date=' that would be true for me as well. At least, since I got the LP, the urgency to get another guitar has dropped greatly.

But then, I don't have a Telecaster yet, either.... [img']http://forum.gibson.com/public/style_emoticons/default/eusa_whistle.gif[/img]

yeeeeeeeees ............. no doubt about it.....

but, at the same time, forum helps us to direct our GAS

to better choices and accurate buyings, so, at last,

forum could help us to save some money...

did you get my point? eusa_eh.gif

Good! Now I only need to convince TIM

...

blue... you do have a tele? or dont you?

Tim...a Tele? Not in a million years.

That reissue GAS problem of his is starting to evolve into something worse... now he's talking about himself in the third person!!!

In the end' date=' you'll get one Tim... and you will love her... =P~

So when is your strat supposed to arrive? (cant wait to see the pics... you always get the pretiest guitars, man...)default_eusa_wall.gif

Now I need an R9' date=' and R8, and a Mustang Mach 1! '](*,)

Too funny! ](*,)

Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...what are we going to do with you? =P~

Tim + Tele? Not gonna happen, buddy...not now, not ever.

Uh, the Strat? ****, who knows? When they do actually arrive, you'll be the first to know.

The two that were initially ordered in for me were drop dead gorgeous. It's too bad they were HSS Strats.

I hope mine will look just as good.

Wait a minute! They have pictures on forums now? Gee, next thing you know they'll have the internet on the computer too.. Sorry I couldn't help but throw in a Homerism. I would say yes and this goes beyond forums.

I would like to know how many people google "Gibson Les Paul" and how often. I don't do it on a daily basis but it's enough that I fall into Einstein's definition of insanity: "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

I think online forums encourage obsessive pre-consumerism, which ends up as consumerism. I spent a few years on a shop forum for modified mustangs, one day I looked up and noticed I had spent 18,000 dollars and created a car that was way beyond my needs. Same thing for guitars, audio equipment, etc.

You don't realize you need a half dozen expensive guitars until you notice "everyone does it" online.

I do love them though.

Tim, it's definitely your fault I'm buying a Les Paul tomorrow... *cough* ... I've definitely got a major case of GAS due to this forum. I've always wanted an LP, but you guys made it a lot worse... :)

I'll be sure to post tons of pics when I get it as well, but until then you guys will have to guess as to what I'm getting.
