Edgar Green
I'm new to basses, started about a year ago, so my question might sound a little weird. 1. How's the 93' gibson les paul deluxe bass? 2. There's a switch on gibson electric guitars, and basses, what's the switch for? 3. And why the Deluxe bass doesn't have one? Thank you for answering! Lungimsam
I never played one but can tell you the answer to: 2. If it is the switch that is usually white or cream in color, then that is a toggle switch, which enables you to switch from using the bridge pickup to the neck pickup quickly. In the middle position both pups are on. There is some variation between models. Some guitars and basses come with a rotary switch that you twist into different positions. But the toggle just flips into 3 positions. 3. Some basses are designed without them. In that case, you can only use the volume knobs (one for each pickup) to increase or decrease the volume of each pickup. I think the new Les Paul Basses have toggle switches. I'd go with a model that has the switch as you can get a nice off-on effect from them, and it makes switching pups easier.
Kelvinator
My Les Paul Standards have the switch (I think all the carved-tops do), but the thing gets in my way at times. I like the ability to switch between pups quickly, but wish the switch was on the lower bout.
