miles
I am going to upgrade my gear, I am now playing with my SE Nick Catanese signature guitar with EMG 81/85... Of course with my DSL401 boosted by SD-1 I have 3 main choices now..... And I don't want any EMG or FR guitar as I need to tune down the guitar so often The neck of my current guitar is too thick and cannot play solo comfortably... So, I want a guitar with thinner neck profile which favour fast playing Mainly for heavy metal like Metallica or Megadeth stuff..... The money spent should be as less as possible Any guitar enthusiasts here can do a analysis or share some experiences with me?? THANKS! USA made or Japan made guitars are more versatile and worth buying? I am also interested in the thunderhorse explorer
dem00n
I'm sorry but im one of those people that believes a thinner neck wont help you play faster. If you want guitars with thin necks then check out Ibanez, they are know for the thin neck guitars. If you want good High Output pups then these are the guys you wanna check out. http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/main/pickups.php?cat=humbuckers

I am also interested in the thunderhorse explorer 1) Drop and down tuning has ZERO effect on EMG pickups, which is probably why almost every heavy metal player has them in there guitars. 2) Metallica and Megadeth have successfully played a lot of there music on thick necked guitars. 3) USA vs Japan will come down to preference and name, on the quality side they will be about the same, you can generally pick up a vintage MIJ guitar for cheap but its something you have to hunt for. 4) Thunderhorse Explorer is not cheap, I bought a 76 reissue which is a couple hundred cheaper in April and it cost me $1484; however if its in your budget it would be a more then capable guitar. I think you can get the Prestige models for aboot $700. Wizard Pro necks are amazing. I have a PGM 100RE and the neck is unbelievable. Wide/thin makes for great shredding. I prefer it over my ESP KH2 for that reason. Dimarzio PAF Pros are excellent pups for pretty much any genre.
