My new best friend

So there I was at my favorite nusic store on a nice friday morning. While some work was getting done on my Taylor, I tried a few Gibson including an Hummingbird, J-45 and a Dove. I kept coming back to one of those and put it on a stand rather than back on the wall; making sure no one would touch it. I couldn't kept my eyes from admiring this piece of art [love] and its tones were real nice. I kept trying more and playing even after my luther completed the job, and I even told him chances are that I would come back home with two guitars and he might change the strings on this baby.

Well, what do you know, I had a brand new set of Elixir Nanoweb 80/20 bronze light (.012)installed on my new best friend and my luther lowered the action. The end result was nothing less than [drool] . Such sweet and rich tones, playability, awesome look and an instrument fitting perfectly in my hands and lap is a great experience.

I took some pics today, but unfortunately the files are too big for the board. Knowing it's the law to have pics of your Gibson , I will do my best to make this possible to have images of my new friend asap.

In the meantime, let's see who can guess what model seduced me ok? [cool]

Dennis, upload your pics to Photobucket and then add the links to them in your post.

I'm going with the bird also.

J45, Humingbird and Dove huh? All three are great guitars. I would have to get all three, eventually, Ha, since the three are totally different then each other, in cosmetics(the two are a square shoulder, and the other is a round shoulder) and especially tone wise.

There is no obvious way of guessing, I would love to say the J45 as thats what I like me self, but who knows..

So lets take your forum id, Denis57, 5 + 7 = 12, 1 + 2 = 3 so it must be the third on the list as its in written in the numbers

So its the Dove..................

One thing about the "bird." It might be the best known guitar in the world. Not speaking of musicians/songwriters/etc, but of the mainstream public. If you're playing a gig, it is very likely someone will comment on a Gibson, and especially a Hummingbird. This is not a slam on J45's, D28's, J200's, D18's, or any other guitar that is well-known to us. I just think that Gibson, as well as Martin, are guitar brands that are the most noticed and recognized by the general public, and within those boundaries the Hummingbird is the name best-known. Not talkling about the loudest or most popular with performers, or sales figures.

Thanks folks for the cool replies [smile]

Yes, it's a beautifull instrument that plays very smootly, with rich tones that really sings to my ol'ears. The sound gets even better in certain locations like in the livingroom, most likely due to the wooden floor and larger room.

My Hummingbird makes it very difficult to me to stop playing it and I've been playing every day for at least a couple of hours each day (sometimes up to 3 hours). Good thing I'm on vacation too! This is much more than before when I had a regular schedule of playing every other day for about an hour, an hour and a half. This might result in an even more regular playing schedule, perhaps even upto a daily 45 mins/ 1 hr. dose of H-Bird [thumbup]

I can only imagine a nice musical future around here and even more so considering the sound of aging will my H-Bird signs even sweeter tones [drool] .
