tvguit
Are there any Loar signed A-5 mandolins?
goaty76
I believe only one has been found. It is owned by Tut Taylor I think. Phil
pfox14
There's no such model as an A-5. Only the F-5 mandolins were signed by Lloyd Loar, as well as the other Style 5 instruments from that era - H-5 mandola, K-5 mando-cello and L-5 guitar. StijnV
I think that jfshults is referring to the A-5L, please find attached the specifications taken from the Gruhns Guide to Vintage Guitars. A5L Gruhns Specs.pdf

pfox14
I stand corrected - there is a Loar-signed A-5 model from 1923 - http://www.mandolinarchive.com/gibson/serial/74003
Murph
Awesome picture Murph! Thanks. It also has SS scratched into the heel. Scotty Stoneman did that many, many years ago. Chris is a very cool guy.
