I just got a pristine used ( new to me) TV J 45 red spruce topped ! Its incredible! Playing and sounding! It is also a true beauty to behold :-) ! I had recently bought a used 1942 j45 Legend and did not like it! I know you guys are saying this dudes whacked! But really I like this guitar way better. Sounds better! Neck way more playable to me. The only thing I miss is the binding. I know its crazy but the binding on the Legend is a coffee color very very nice. But I will live with the creamy color on the TV Special ed. Anyone else besides Jannusguy got one? What do you think?

I had a Legend as well and traded it for another guitar that I like way better. The neck on the Legend was just too big. Now I like big necks on my guitars but the Legend was ridiculously big for me. I've played a few early 40's J45's and they had big necks but they weren't as uncomfortable for me to play as the Legend was.

Yes, I understand the necks are quite large and deep....not an issue for me....but I'm curious as to the OPs preference for the sound of the TV over the Legend. In case I ever come across a deal on a Legend, I'd like to know why the poster feels the way he does. If TVs are better, or just as good sounding, then maybe I could save some serious money.

Hi Modac! I am not sure "yet" as to why I like the TVSE sound better. This TV as you know has the adi top and is braced the same as far as I know as the Legend. Unfortunately I don't have the legend as I said. I guess if I did it would be easier to do a comparison and then to explain. To be absolutely honest I did not think it was worth the money and I feel I got a deal on it. Again not to offend any Legend owners. This was my subjective opinion. Now I feel that the Special Edition is absolutely worth what I paid for it!

I guess I am just becoming a Gibson guy. I also have a Advanced Jumbo I just got which I love the sound of. It is a lot different from the J 45/Spruce.

I have owned a Martin D 28 Marquis and sold it. But again I feel the AJ is sweeter sounding and way more powerful and it only has Light strings as it came. Soon to have Meds.

I also own a Martin D 18 GE which I love. I also want to say I feel very lucky and blessed to have these beautys!
