Guest farnsbarns
I have been discussing the use of negative space in design a lot recently. It has become of huge interest. For the non-design types negative space is the area around and between the obvious content in any design, image, text or picture. Has anyone ever noticed the beautiful, flame shaped negative space in Duane's sig picture? Just saying.

grampa
Most people are not consciously aware of the negative space and the effect it has on how we percieve. The same is true of the spaces in music.

Silenced Fred
White space is important, especially in design and music. The editor hated me because he liked his designs on pages real tight and perfectly lined up, and I liked more of an atmosphere. My favorite layouts are simple ones and there is like a one inch border around the page, it looks classy Music is the same way, I like to layer, but not jumble, notes up. It takes away from the beauty
DMichaelG
Agree with fuzzy fred on the white space issue. All I know of negative space is what my brain feels after thinking about music instead of playing music.
damian
" We were talking, about the space between us all " Anyways, the known and unknown mathamatics in design, art, music, ( and women ), are what make them so pleasing to the senses.......And musicians are more aware and perceptive to these mathamatics than ordinary people.....That's why I only converse and relate to artists, musicians, writers, designers, and the members on this forum............................... Dub-T-123
My ENT Specialist would argue that, especially when I had my ears cleaned out last month ...... pretty disgusting I love getting my ears cleaned out at the doctor's office. They always get such a ridiculous amount of crap out. It's so awesome. Negative space is cool. My music could probly use some more of it sometimes.
