What SG?

Recommended Posts

This is my first time using Gibson FORUM O:)

I already have Les Paul Classic and it is great.

But I want different experience.

I wanted to get SG in the first place but the guy at the retail store didn't really recommend it....

So I am asking you guys what SG will fit me? I love AC/DC, Led, and any classic rock.

I also want to ask what is the most expensive SG(not including Custom or special made).

I am also interested in Angus Young Signature SG but I don't know if the quality and tone are good.

Not that I am sick of Les Paul, it is just heavy and I want to try other things.

Thanks

you should get the sg 61 reissue, you will not believe its magical tone, the clarity is amazing. i surely love it more than any guitar ive tried, i tried the standard but the tone just didnt work out for me, its because the pickups, but the standard pickups on the reissue are amazing, 57 classic is the best man! iam not a metal geek so the 57 classic with vintage style will do more than enough for me. period!

It's kind of hard to go wrong with any of the SG models but they do differ slightly. The best advice I can give you is to try them all and see which one you like best. That's what I did and found the '61 reissue was the best for me. You already let a salesman talk you into getting another guitar when you wanted an SG the first time. Please don't make the same mistake again. You are the best judge of what you want.

The Angus young model is a great sounding and playing SG.

The most expensive production model is the SG Select but that 's kind of a different animal since the body and neck are Maple. the tone comes off a little too bright for my taste.

To answer what the most expensive non-custom shop or specially made SG is: the Gibson SG Select (click here http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-SG-Select-Electric-Guitar?sku=512604 for more info) but as others have said, the '61 reissue is probably right for you. It has the same type of neck as your LP classic, so you won't have to deal with a fat neck like most SGs have. It also has a good sound.
