Thanks for your comment - she really is a beaut! not quite as dark as a tobacco - and she weighs a ton! Case candy definately states 'Violin Burst' - perhaps rarer than I first thought, as nobody has come up with any info! Regards MrGreedy55

fingers galore
I had a 1988 plain top LP Custom in the same finish. I always considered it to be tobacco burst. Yours is a beauty!
mrgreedy55
Just got a reply from Gibson, they say it's a 'Vintage Sunburst' although the Gibson Tag with the case candy says 'Violin Burst'- Very Interesting! The serial number of this guitar links in our database to a Les Paul Custom in Vintage Sunburst with Gold hardware, made in Nashville, Tennessee in 1990. The Les Paul Custom in Vintage Sunburst was available in our standard product range in 1990. We do not have any number on production totals available, since this information is kept confidential. A beautiful guitar indeed! If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us again or refer to our webpage at www.gibson.com.
