Junae
Good morning, I am interested in buying a Class 5 Gibson and wanted some information. The site Gibson says it is weight relieved, but Guitarcenter says it is chambered . My Gibson Appetite is weight relieved with 9 holes. Gibson Custom Class 5, say they have 17 holes. Does anyone have picture of gibson class with 17 holes? Thank you.
CR9
If it was built within the last 5 years it would be chambered the same as the chambered reissue guitars. They have been chambered for entire time although the size and shape of the chambers have changed over the years. I do not recall a Class 5 that was 17 holes and would love to see a photo of one too. Junae
Answer Gibson: Hello, I’ve spoken with the Custom Shop, and they’ve indicated that these models utilize a proprietary weight-relief. They are not chambered. As the process is proprietary, we do not have any images to disclose regarding the weight relief pattern. Thank you for the inquiry. CR9
Good catch Joe, I was thinking about the Elegant. The Class 5 uses a series of holes and some large "holes" that could really be called chambers. I do know there is at least one Class 5 that has the chambering using the same chambers as the photo I attached in the earlier post. Might be a few more like that. Most have a lot of holes. Looks like swiss cheese.
