MetalMonkey
Hi guys, I bought this Gibson Explorer a short while ago: http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/8052/1000051t.jpg The tuners are not original, made in West Germany (maybe Kahlers?). Here's the serial number: 83013516, made in USA From what I understand it's from the 28th October 1983, 516th stamp of the day right? Can you help me identify the actual model of this guitar ? Is it an Explorer II ? Thanks!
Morten M
Looks like a standard '76 reissue. The tuners are probably Schaller.
MetalMonkey
Thanks for the info! I had a hard time finding good information on the web. And yes Schallers exactly, didn't recognize the little logo on the back of the tuner. I was thinking of maybe putting a black pickguard on it. Would any replacement pickguard fit ? Or do I have to buy one specifically made for the 76 reissue ?

There is only the one style of Explorer pick guard for the most part if my mind serves me correctly, just make sure its got the hole in the horn for your pickup selector switch.
