It was the original concept guitar for the band "Eternal Descent" and their Manga style comicbook which correspondes with the new album out in early 2009.

The "lead character has this guitar (or did until the ESP Sponsorship deal).

ESP would not allow the band to use anything but their guitars and the comic will now have an ESP on the headstock of the guitar the "hero" character uses.

look at the artwork and you will see the guitar on the early conceptual art.

Weren't there before LPF, or so said the little red Xs :(.... but they are there now. Awesome guitar and GREAT story... any pics if it in the dark??

Can anyone date this new guitar by whats visable of the serial?

I think its serial is a different formulation to my 1972 Les Paul Recording (Updated with 2 1973 P90`s in 1976).

(The low impedance stuff is long gone.)

Just thought there may be someone knowledgable out there.

Chanman, i tried to take a photo of it glowing in the dark but therein lies the problem...the dark.

Nothing for the camera to use as a point of focus and flash will not work.

It looks awsome though and sounds even better.

If the serial number is stamped, try taking a "rubbing." Use a thin piece of paper (preferably vellum or tissue paper but plain white paper works sometimes) and rub a pencil across it, as it hits the edges of the numbers it will make a visible line a little darker than the grey scribble everywhere else. Sometimes that will make a faint stamped serial number easier to read.

making some very broad assumptions, the serial number suggests it's either a 1997 or 1987 guitar. It can't be a 2007 or the 4th digit (reading right to left) would be a 0 or a 1. manufacture day is either March 30 (day 089), July 8th (day 189), or October 16th (day 289). March 30, 1997 was a Saturday so that's ruled out. If it's an 1987 any of the days is possible since they were Monday, Wednesday, Friday respectively. Try a tracing to see if you can get the whole number.

H Guys,

Well i finally got the number by looking at the headstock in sunlight and wierd angles and it appears to be 80987449 Made IN USA but the first 2 are not very clear.

This instrument was produced on April 8th, 1987 in Nashville, Tennesee, and was instrument #-51 stamped that day.

It is in the UK ,Its Unique and Comes with copies of some of the artwork and albums by the originators band Eternal Descent and has several signed art and album covers and the first signed draft manuscript of the comic book due to be released early 2009 and is available to anyone with a good enough offer over £1500.I plays like a dream and has a gibson hardcase.
