Tim Plains Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Is there any difference in the software/hardware between the original Robots and these newer ones, or is it just the paint? I wonder if Gibson actually made changes/improvements...:) I think some Robot pictures are also in order!
SRV-Zeppelin Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Unless I'm mistaken, the original limited edition Robot LPs did not have the Neutrik Jacks as the new Studio Robots do. Other than that, the only difference between the 1st and 2nd gen guitars are the finish and the price. The original Robot LP sold for US $2499 whereas a new Robot Studio will run you about $1699 US.
Thundergod Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Are you sure about that new pice SRV-Z? At that price I think it will be imposible to NOT buy one... (the silverburst finish, black, red metalic and wine red finishes are gorgeous and at that price... well... I want one! In fact I just checked and the robot SG is at 1399!!! I want one... any of you guys know if that is a limited run or something like that?
Tim Plains Posted October 1, 2008 Author Posted October 1, 2008 There's a purple LP Robot locally and it's $2,525, new. There's also a purple SG Robot and it's $2,200 (I think). any of you guys know if that is a limited run or something like that? Aren't they all limited runs??
Thundergod Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 ok... ok... but I like that silverburst SG robot a lot... any chance any of ou guys buy me one and keep her until I can get over there?

daveinspain Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 The Original Robot has a n ebony fret board, Bound neck and headstock and had a special silver case , they sold new for around $2200.00... The new Robots don't have the ebony or binding and come with a regular case... I'm not sure if the software has been updated, good question... The new Robots I have seen sell for 2500 to 2700....

Wolff Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 You guys have some classy pickguards on your Robots. That blue is so sweet too. 1 quick question about the Robot series. Is it possible to get a Robot LP with the 60's neck?
daveinspain Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I'm not sure if the offer different necks but the neck on mine feels perfect... I think its a 50s neck, I could be wrong though...

MarkHolbrook Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Well I just got mine about 2 weeks ago. I got it from guitar center. The price has been $2789 on it for several months. This very guitar hung on the display for probably two months before I bought it. I remember when it first came in as all the GC guys were buzzing about it so I know it was new to the store at least. How long GC corp had mine in stock is anybodies guess. Mine has the nuetrik (sp) jack, charger and power supply. I checked quite a few places on the internet and most prices were right around $2700 or very close. I simply cannot believe that this guitar would be around for $1600 based on my earlier research. I waited until GC had a Gibson special and got $500 off so I paid $2289 for mine. on eBay I'm seeing them from $1495 up to $3995 (wonder whats special about that one?). But retail I typically was seeing $2700 for them. However I do see Musicians Friend has them in limited quantities fro $1699. Well that is the nature of the business... There will always at some point be a better price somewhere else. I wonder how long (how many) they have at that price? Oh ya... I also got 12 months no interest on it too... So maybe that is worth the difference in price for me.
elvendio Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I've had mine for almost a year and havn't had any probs. I paid $2100 for her. I have suprisingly seen a few of the first run models hanging up for sale in varoius guitar shops aroung Toronto.
esch Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 These blue guitars are so '80s Hair Bands. Not my favorite genre but to each his own...! Just stirrin' the pot guys!
