RStabe Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Im ready to swap out the BB1&2. Not sure how hot I wanna go. Im thinkin a Bare Knuckle Warpig and maybe an Iommi up front. Opinions please?
Ian Martin Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 What kind of sound are you looking for? Classic rock or high-gain? I can't highly recommend '57s enough, but if you're looking for a dragonkick to the eardrums they're not what you're looking for. Also, how do you like your Diablo? I wasn't too keen on the red one, but the silver one coming out at the end of the year looks AMAZING.
RStabe Posted October 2, 2008 Author Posted October 2, 2008 Mainly looking for a shredder but I dont want it one dimensional either. Now Im thinkin its easier to crutch a pickup dirty than to clean it up. The BBs are way to thin though. I really love the red diablo. Looks way better replacing the knobs, sw cap and soon to be rings to all gold metal stuff. The smaller plain gold knurled knobs really help the esthetics IMHO. This pic is a better representation of the actual color. http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/6677/567152vz7.jpg' alt='567152vz7.jpg'> [/img]
Ian Martin Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I would recommend EMG pickups if you're looking for that high-gain stuff. EMG 81's and 85's are legendary in hard rock and metal. I really want to play a Diablo, but the only one I've seen in real life was at Best Buy (you heard me). I refused.
RStabe Posted October 2, 2008 Author Posted October 2, 2008 I have an epi with the EMGs and love em. I wanna keep the diablo all gibby though, Im sure ya understand that. I got soft and ordered up some 57s (a + in the bridge). Versatility won out in the end. Any you guys have a single guitar that you use to experiment goods on? Seems like a good and fun idea. Maybe a Turser. They are real nice for the cabbage. And those big ole potholes be easy to play round in.
Ian Martin Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Yeah, I understand that. Honestly, unless you're looking for a super heavy metal guitar, you will NOT be disappointed with the '57s. '57s and SGs go together like macaroni and cheese. Not exactly the most original combination, but you cannot go wrong. Hey, you should consider taking some pics of your Diablo (as well as your other axes). I'd love to see some non-stock photos!
RStabe Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 All I have is a les special, epi g400 emg and this. The other two are bone stock. I'll post a pic when I get the pickups in with the brass rings. Havent done much in many years and Im gettin back into it. Its weird, ya get that same old overexcited mentality back only now there is actually money in your pocket. Last one I had before all this was a 84 G&L SB2 bass I bought brand new and pawned in 94 for $150.
