dbreslauer
yup, installed on both my iMac and on my Macbook pro. so far so good. one suggestion: BEFORE you run the installer, copy the 3.5GB file to a jump drive or such. it gets removed after install is successful. if you do this, you can use the same file on your other macs. good luck! :) Don

I'm digging full screen iPhoto too. Don

Andy R
I didn't have anything to lose on my laptop so I just went for it. Flawless so far... BTW I used to think Mac's sucked too until I finally had enough... Spent 2 days trying to get Pro tools to install on my Windows machine. Took 15 miuntes on a mac... After 15 years of saying never... Mac is all I use now. I no longer get harassed and second guessed about what the hell I want to do from the OS constantly. Yes I F*&king know I have security settings the way I F&*cking want them.... Yes I would like to do this.... Yes I'm positive I want to do this.... Ok I will change to admin... Yes I said I wanted to do that before. OK I will reboot.... Error, no I don't want to send a report to microsoft.... Eeesh! I now spend 99% of my time doing what I want to do instead of 99% of my time trying to do what I want to do.... Over it! Mac man forever now... ( by the way I am an MCSE and spent 3 years in desktop support ) I know MS in and out.... Anyway Lion is running beautifully.... mcmurray
I've been using Lion for about 30 minutes now. First impressions; -Upgraded without a hitch, installation took about 45 minutes and all my data/apps/settings etc are intact -Safari feels very snappy -Scrolling is now like an iPad, i.e. move your fingers upwards to go down the page, can't get used to it, luckily it can be turned off -Full screen view in all apps makes the 13" mbp screen feel bigger -Launchpad, while very iOS like, is something I'll be using often

mcmurray
IBM machines were ghastly in the mid 80's, I agree. However the Mac of the time was not any better in my opinion. The Commodore Amiga was so far ahead of its time when released in 1985, and remained the best personal computer bar none until Commodore's demise in the 90's. With the amiga you had a full colour GUI with mouse, thousands of colours available to display, PCM stereo digital audio, and an extensive custom chipset that took a heap of load off the CPU. rct
No computers in my studio since I sit at one all day. Weird. This email just arrived as you dorks were disgusting this: Dear <my actual name redacted for security purposes>, I'm sure you've heard about Apple's new OS X 10.7 Lion by now. Talk about exciting news! Before you take the plunge, I wanted to make sure that you were aware that there may be complications if you upgrade too soon. That's why I asked my marketing department to send this message to you and the rest of my valued customers. Here are a few tips for upgrading to OS X 10.7 Lion: - Wait! OS X Lion has lots of cool new functions, but before you make the switch, you'll want be sure that the software and gear you rely on is fully compatible. - Check out the OS X Lion compatibility information listed here: www.sweetwater.com/lioninfo. We have already established the current compatibility status with the following companies: Apogee, Avid, Focusrite, MOTU, Native Instruments, Presonus, Propellerhead, and Steinberg, and will be adding to this list every day. - When all of your gear is listed as OS X Lion compatible, take the time to double check with the manufacturer to see if there are any additional performance issues you might want to know about. Hope you're keeping cool (it's absolutely ROASTING in Fort Wayne), Ryan Ziolkowski Sweetwater rct

overtherainbo
Good God, what's that smell ? I'm groggy, and lying limply in my chair. The scene is familiar, but I can't quite figure where I am or how I got here. Okay, I'm sitting at a computer. Weird, I don't remember this. Looking around the room about me looks like like grey granite roughly chipped into shape with a hammer and chisel. Hmmm,... Still groggy. Feel like I just came up from a deep dive and I need air, so for the moment I glad just to lie back and breath. But the smell! I oughta be getting used to it? Hmmm No overhead lights, just a reddish light coming from the window that sort of.. pulses or wavers. From the corners of my eyes, I see I'm surrounded by other people seated at computers, some of them look like they're just waking up too. Wait a minute... the rows of people and computers stretch off to distant horizons... I sit up... how come I recognize these people? Hey, look at that! all the nearest people are really hot chicks... I mean hot! I'll just go on over and... WTF? Suddenly I come fully awake, and trying to stand I discover my ankles are bound to the chair. Okay, This feels like real panic. Suddenly I realize we're all sitting knee-deep in a bubbling, green liquid excrement splotched with dark amorphous masses floating just below the surface. As I'm trying to grasp the situation, I notice the level of the liquid is slowly receding... and I can see the everyone seems to be chained to their chairs? Suddenly a voice booms out, " Alright, people, the Break's over. Get off yer *** and get to work!" My computer screen blinks awake, and as I read the screen I see scrambled names on a field that reads "Telephone Numbers National Indian/Chinese Registry". Suddenly, my memory floods back... At my side I sense a presence. Speaking over my shoulder, a voice rumbled about two octaves below human, "Do You, perhaps, require some stimulus to return to work?" "No. No. Oh,no" I squeaked. " No, please, no". I stared at the at totals. "This isn't fair," I whined. "That's 4 billion names to alphabetize..." My voice strangled off as the red, scaled and horned overseer stepped closer. I could feel the trembling of the floor as the mountainous demon moved to tower over me. Shaped like a man but with the bulk of two rhinos. He carried a huge fork with sharp tines with gleaming tips. He idly stoked the tines which commenced vibrating like a tuning fork. "Surely you ain't gonna start *****ing again about how you needs a Mac, are you?" I gestured toward the screen whose browser was prominently labeled VIsta OS v. 666,666. "Six hundred thousand versions later and it still has glitches, freezes, and crashes!" I wailed. "Look it's frozen right now!" Three red female demons danced up to my right. The three leaned over and rested their double Ds on my shoulders and neck. As I reeled at their closeness, their locks of hair spilled over my face, and I was drenched with the spicy tang of cinnamon and peppermint. They sang --- sometimes you whimper, what ya gonna do? ain't no rest for the wicked, payin' their dues you know, you know, It's a feature, not a bug. f-e-a-t-u-r-e, sounds like feature to me the Devil hates idle hands, he'll work you eight to five he's got lots for you to do, and that ain't no jive One of the female demons ran her finger over my nose. It tickled, and I shivered.... I went to the boss, and you know, you know I said can I work 'stead of resting during the break ? He said "no dice, son; stand on your head, on your head with all the others in that pool of crap, or I'll poke ya with my fork and blood'll run red, red, red. sometimes you whimper, what ya gonna do? ain't no rest for the wicked, payin' their dues you know, you know, It's a feature, not a bug. f-e-a-t-u-r-e, sounds like feature to me. The female demons pranced away, double Ds and plump rears swaying and and wiggling. I couldn't tear my eyes away. Been chained to the desk for a thousand years, without so much as a kiss... The Giant demon leered. "A kiss, is it? Well..." He leaned closer and puckered his lips, revealing three inch fangs. I jerked away as far as I could. His laughter boomed and echoed back from the distant wall. "Har Har Har There just ain't no pleasin' some guys! His brows gathered in a massive frown. "Now, look, It's almost time for the Break and you ain't done crap! "No. Wait! the computer's frozen!" "Har Har Har Ironic as Hell, ain't it? Oh, look, it's Break time." I could see the pool of liquid excrement was gurgling, and bubbling as began rapidly rising. " It's not my fauuuuult!" I wailed. "Too bad," the demon roared. "Everybody on their heads!" sparky scott 29
I have been beta testing lion for the last 7-9 months.. With each new seed update, they took stuff away, like new features, ect... only to let out some each time.. and added at different seeds.. I do still have a seed copy of Lion I use here and there... A question for those of you that have it now... All the Apple Developer seeds which I have used, it always has a real bad flaw it used. I think Apple does it on purpose, so the developers have to switch to get the querks back out for the final product. The examples I know right away are, the side scroll bar did disappear on earlier seeds, but not all, also, the mouse scroll goes backwards on my latest Lion seed... Therer many others that I know that did this to as well. Now, did they fix that with the final product, or is it still backwards??? It really cheeses me off....
