Haven't seen a tenor in this thread yet, so decided to register and join the fun...

My first Gibson was a 1965 TG-25, acquired about a year and a half ago as a means to try to learn tenor guitar. I understand it to be the four string version of the B25 being produced at the same time. Tuned in fifths (like a viola: CGDA), it plays sort of like a mandolin with an elongated neck.

A few months after that acquisition, I consulted the wisdom on this forum and easily convinced myself to pick up a 2007 J45-TV!

Here are the siblings, little and big:

The OP asked for archtops also, so I volunteer to represent the Gibson archtop community.

1947 L-7, this is one of the sweetest guitars I've ever laid my grubby little hands on.

Although slightly updated with a Benedetto pickup mounted to an L-5 pickguard.

Hi guys, some pretty awesome looking guitars on here, i love these threads!!!

And i'm more than happy to contribute to the guitar porn threads - my guitar is Koa back and sides with a Red Spruce top and sort of vintage'y appointments (inlay around the border of the top and back). i absolutely love it and play it most every day.

I had bought a different SJ-200 in 05 or 06 after shopping around for a long time. It unfortunately had to go back to gibson for some warranty work and while there they determined that it was not repairable to the standard they would want so they built me up this one. Ren picked out the woods for it and i guess built the top a la the custom shop (i've read that anyway). He signed the label for me too which i think was pretty cool. It's 3 years old now and while it was a little bit of a struggle to get it well set up it's settled in great and plays better!

Most of those pictures were taken the day it arrived from Bozeman in 08, the last one is the way it's been for the last couple of years (the vine pickguard while nice was too distracting and fancy for me and they kindly sent me that hand-bordered plain one). Gotta love gibson guitars!!

What was wrong with the original J200? (I'm thinkin' might be good to send one of mine back, then while it's there get Ren to make me something like yours!)

heh, it definitely wasn't what i'd consider a peaceful time in my guitar playing life. it was kind of a bummer really and took probably just about a year from the time i first sent it in until i had the new one in my hands. and then another 18 months or so before i was attached to the new one. now i've got this great guitar that is really the one i'd gone looking for the whole time anyway, and i mean don't get me wrong it's a freaking great looking and playing guitar but a lot of it's in the pictures too you know ;)

my original one went back twice actually over the course of a couple of months. in the end it was replaced due to a problem that happened while addressing some problems with the finish. the finish problems though were thought to be caused by the same problem that caused the bridge to crack (which is why i initially contacted them about it. they weren't 100% certain at the time but the thought was that the top wood wasn't "proper" when the guitar was built and as it aged a little it warped causing all these problems.

Here are a couple of more pictures

A picture of the original guitar, i spent 2+ years shopping for this and extended my budget twice in the process before finally pulling the trigger one Saturday afternoon a few years back. Rocker Guitars - San Francisco. It was a 2004 Historic Collection SJ-200 (also Koa). Some of you guys know the history of the product lines a lot better than me. I think the Historic Collection morphed into a few different things and the TV line kind of came out of it around 2008? This one was a looker too, played great for a time... (RIP):

What a collection!

+1, i've seen this picture a couple of times and it always gets me going! could you tell me/us some more info on the 2 at the ends of the back row (on the couch), looks like a southern jumbo on the left and a 45 on the right.

Sure, 1953 SJ on the left end and a 1951 J45 on the right end. I need to update this pic as the 2008 J45TV (To the left of the '51) is in a new home. The j185TV may be heading out soon, as well.

it didn't one of the parts of the mustache actually cracked most of the way through. (if that makes any sense). If i recall correctly it was the thinnest part immediately to the right (as you're looking at it) of the bridge. It may have been weak or cracked from the get go but i guess the shifting of the top caused it to go the rest of the way. I think that picture was taken after they're replaced the bridge but before they'd addressed the rest of the issues. While i was thinking about this earlier i dug up a bunch of pictures of that guitar i'd taken just before sending it off to them for the last time. i kind of thought that i might never see it again.

Magic and the Tiger Lillies! Sounds like a great band name. Too bad I have no talent haha! Nevertheless, here's a pic of Magic. Not sure what the weird reflection is on the guitar?

The orange label of this nice guitar sings along with the lillie-choir - and how about them bells. . . .

Sorry...didn't mean to dredge up old unpleasant memories.

I know my Dove and DIF are so special to me, I'd be crushed if I ever had to let them go.

I'm not yet that attached to the H'Bird, but I'm hoping one day I will be.
