Real? Gibson tenor guitar?

Recommended Posts

Hi

i was trying to sell a gibson tenor guitar, and was told that it was a fake. i dont believe it is. if it is, it had to have been made decades ago, as the signs of aging are real looking to me

I believe it is a TG50 made in the 30's or 40's

I am hoping i could get some help in verifying it, so when i sell it, i dont rip anyone off.

thank you

I'm certainly no expert, but it looks authentic to me. I'm guessing it's early 1930's because I don't think they used banjo tuners on tenors beyond then. Anyhow, did the person tell you why they thought it was a fake?

I found this pic of the headstock of a Nick Lucas Special tenor at Elderly; it looks pretty similar (though the date is 1937, so I'm probably wrong about the timeframe when banjo tuners were used on Gibson tenor guitars).
