Blue Label Installed Into Casino

Recommended Posts

So you are going to collect most of John's guitars? I think we as fans and consumers are lucky that John's guitar he loved best is actually quite affordable. Epiphone has done everything right with their Casino model.

Regarding the Hootenanny:

I just don't understand why Framus doesn't do a re-issue of that guitar. One can get one of those absurd Futurama guitars that George played for a minute and a half, but the Hootenanny - a guitar whose fantastic sound is on many Beatle tracks and a guitar that was seen prominently in a Beatle movie - can not be bought.

Framus is way behind on this. Hofner, Ric, Vox, Epi, Gretsch, Ludwig, Gibson, and even Futurama have used good business sense, what is Framus waiting for? That 12 string Framus would sell.

I play John in a tribute band so I'm hoping to collect most of them eventually. Even though there are guitars made called Futurama, I don't believe there is a reissue of the Czech guitar made by Resonet that George played in the early days. I don't believe the Futurama company have anything to do with the 60s instrument.

Considering Framus are still making guitars it's insane that they haven't reissued the Hootenanny as the appeal would be huge. Epiphone seem to be on the right track. If they're wise they'll get permission to do a Paul and George Casino. Possibly a 50th anniversary release?

Duane! That LP Jr is awesome. It's been the cause of major GAS since you first posted the completed project. You don't know how many times I've been very close to buying a satin junior to start it off...

Hey, dude, I'm passing the guitar off as something it is not TO MYSELF! I ain't selling it. I simply modded a guitar into something I like to look at. You never modded a guitar?

Check out this guitar I modded. My God, if you think just putting a blue label into a guitar is wrong, you would have me executed for doing this:

Hey dude, It doesn't matter to me what you do or say but guitars get sold everyday by people claiming they something when they're are not. Modding a guitar is one thing but switching out the label for a more expensive model is something completely different.

Yes I think the blue label is wrong but just my opinion.

For a more expensive model? The IBJL aren't really that more expensive than a standard and the blue label comes inside the texan which you can pick up for a song. I think you're really missing the point here. It has absolutely nothing to do with cost or value of the guitar and everything to do with making it look 60s specs. IMO people can do whatever they want with their guitars if its for their own personal satisfaction. It's a guitar for god's sake. Who really cares?!?

As long as the owner is honest enough to say it's a mod and not original, which is clearly the case here,I really don't see a problem.

People buy standard model cars all the time and add after-market goodies to make them appear to be a more prestigious or sporty model, much the same thing really.

How is it clearly the case here?

If you bought this casino off ebay and later found the blue label to be fake how would u feel then?

Only me but clearly I'm looking at it from a different perspective. Blue labels for everyone!

He is not selling it, he has no intention of selling it, he has done it for his own satisfaction and intends to keep it, that's the case.

Well, standard casinos join the body at a different fret to the Inspired by and have a different paint scheme on the back/neck, which would give away any ebay faking of the more expensive model immediately. (which clearly this isn't) I seem to remember the electrics might have looked completely different, too.

It's been interesting to see someone replace a blue label; thanks for posting it. I've thought about it as I think they look better but ultimately like mine being original. Looks harder to get off than I expected!

You did a great job with George's strat, too.

Sounds like you're pretty sure of what the future may bring. Got the number for tonight's Mega Million lottery?

Yes, I am pretty sure, the guys who have been discussing these matters have been members here for a good while, they are passionate about all things Beatles and many of them actually perform in cover and tribute bands, it's their thing to try and capture or relive some of that Beatles nostalgia, good luck too them, whatever makes you happy IMHO.

I don't think anyone with a nefarious bent would have the gall to create a thread with Blue Label in the title on the official Epi forum, just doesn't make sense.

Over on the Gibson side someone had their entire thread wiped out because they were showing how to build a les paul from scratch and how to the put a Gibson logo on the headstock. He was building it for himself with no intentions of selling. Very informative thread but nixed none the less.

Look I'm the biggest Beatles fan around and have modded some guitars to resemble theirs. It looks great and I'm sorry I pissed in your Rastus flakes. I don't agree with the label thing that's all.

The "look better" is the key. For me, and others, the blue label simply looks more authentic, looks better, and that's why I and others do it. There is no mad plan to put the guitar on ebay and hope Paul McCartney bids on it.

That other poster has missed the point of why people would modify their guitars. He feels a blue label indicates a common con man. He seems to feel everyone is out there trying to swindle others. Man, I'm from New York and I don't even trust the pigeons around here, but that other poster really takes cynicism to another level.

I just I don't agree with the slur, and it is a slur, that this member was doing this to gain financially from misrepresenting the guitar as something it's not. The Beatles do nothing for me, so I'm not standing up just on the Beatles thing, I've known and followed these members conversations though for quite a while, and collecting and imitating Beatles gear just happens to be something they're interested in, to each their own, as long as they're happy doing it, I don't see how this is innocent pursuit could stir up so much trouble. If you want me to stop responding, stop quoting or referring to me, LOL.

RaSTuS, I'll come clean. That guy was right all the time. I spent $10 on a blue label so I can sell my $500 Casino for 5 million dollars to the Hard Rock as John Lennon's original Casino. My plan was full proof. The only thing I didn't count on was that Detective Columbo was a member of this forum.

Damn. Now I'll just have to keep the guitar, play it, and love it.

Cookieman, if you think the blue label is unethical, you might want to complain to Gibson - they have put 1,965 blue lables into virtually perfect natural Lennon Revolution Casino copies, and another 1,965 into sunburst versions, all with Lennon's serial number on them. They've even "faked" the scratches and wear marks on his original guit. So there are potentially almost 4,000 "fake" Lennon Casinos out there being sold by dealers and resold by private sellers every day of the year. I have yet to hear of anyone being duped into thinking they are John's original unit. And that's not including thousands more of the "Inspired By" John Lennon Casinos that also have blue labels.

Please explain to me why it is OK for a manufacturer to fake up a bunch of tribute guitars with the clear intention of making extra profit, and yet it is wrong for a private owner to do the same for their own enjoyment with no intention of fooling anyone. I'd really like to hear your rational, thoughtful logic on this.

I don't care if you respond or not and it wasn't a slur. Once again your ability to read people's minds and foretell the future trumped me, you win. It hasn't stirred up trouble but for some reason my simple question has ruffled your feathers.

I was not accusing him of doing anything but the possibility of someone doing it is reality. Lighten up Francis, You're gonna burst.

You were the one who bought up the selling it as something it's not angle, until then no-one had even thought along the lines of it's resale, in any way, shape or form.

I've been involved with many of the same threads as you over time and we've never disagreed with each other, this is the first such time, I respect you have your own opinion, but I just don't like seeing a good member besmirched for something he is totally innocent of. It's just not right.

So am I the only one that finds it inherently wrong to change manufactures label in an attempt to pass of a guitar as something it's not.

I'm confused, where in this thread did taxman attempt to misrepresent this guitar?

Not necessarily a slur, but you are accusing him of something he clearly did not do. And if that was his intent, why would he start a thread about it on one of the biggest and most visible guitar froums on the 'net? I don't get it and I think you should back down and apologize.

I once owned a 12 string Ovation that was stolen and the thing I remember most about that guitar was the fact that no matter what you set the amp at for listenability, it fed back badly. As an acoustic it sounded nice, but plugged in? Forget it.

Oh, no, cookieman, you win in the foretell the future department. There is no one on Earth who can trump your ability to read people's minds and foretell the future. You are the king of that. After all it was you who came here, saw a blue label and immediately saw a future of that guitar being passed off on ebay as something it is not.

Others came to this thread to talk about an Epiphone Casino and you came here to tell the future.

It is difficult to have a discussion with you because you are all over the place.

- You rag on another member claiming he attempts to tell the future, yet it was you who came here and predicted the future of my guitar.

- You think it is criminal that I modded my guitar, yet you in this same thread admitted you have modded many a guitar. (I'm going to call the cops on you. You are trying to sell them as something they are not!)

Look, you could have made a point how a blue label could be used by some for nefarious purposes. That could have been a good discussion. But you flat out said that with my use of the blue label I was trying to pass off my guitar as something it is not.

Really? Back down?

Did you just step out of West Side Story?

I asked a question in search of an answer because ebay and CL has drums and guitars misrepresented as something they are not everyday. If Taxi feels dissed by my question then I apologize that was not my intention at all. I've been on these forums for years and believe me I'm not trolling.

I guess it would have served better asking the question in a new thread so it wouldn't be assumed I was pointing a finger at the threads originator.

Sorry for derailing your thread.
