hbpatter83 Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 2004 Standard Premium Plus. Honeyburst finish. I finally got around to taking some pic's of the new LP. I've been on this BB for a little while.. mostly asking questions. It's probably a fairly common LP but it's my first. I have wanted one for MANY years and finally was able to afford one. I really like the way it play's and sound's and the 50's neck is just fine even with my smallish hands. the neck isn't much different than my 84 335. Hope you enjoy the pic's Note: for all the newbies... be sure to refresh your screen to get the full size pic. It took me a little bit to figure that one out..not too long though:) HP
Wolff Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Yet another gorgeous guitar. Very striking appearance. Congrats on the new baby. I wish they still issued those grey case interiors w/shroud with their Gibson USA models.
saturn Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Beautiful top. But I guess that's why it's called a Premium Plus, huh?
lucy-guitar Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 huuh, that's a nice one. If it sounds the way it looks you are a winner...
ChanMan Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 If by "fairly common" you meant "FREAKING GORGEOUS!!", then.. yeah, I see your point... Nice axe man!!
hbpatter83 Posted October 4, 2008 Author Posted October 4, 2008 Thank you all!!!! Yeah it's a good one. But getting it positioned just right in the light really brings out the top grain. I really didn't do any homework before I bought this. I just wanted a Les Paul.. and I know the owner of the local guitar store and he showed me this 04 used one he recently took in and as soon as I played it I had to have it. Talk about impulsive! It was only after joining this BB that I've learned all of the variants of LP's. I had started looking at some older 70's and 80's LP's but it got to be really a pain to go see them at peoples houses and really some just had too much wear and tear. And many were too much money. I like this new one that I can let "age" myself right before my eye's for many years. HP
Tim Plains Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Man, that is one nice guitar! Good score! It was only after joining this BB that I've learned all of the variants of LP's. It's quite the shock' date=' isn't it? Whatever happened to just Standard and Custom??
hbpatter83 Posted October 4, 2008 Author Posted October 4, 2008 Man' date=' that is one nice guitar!Good score! It's quite the shock, isn't it? Whatever happened to just Standard and Custom?? [/quote'] Thanks R9, A shock is right.. R9, R8, VOS, etc.. my head was spinning. Those are all beautiful guitars for sure and someday maybe add one to my collection. You all with the R's and VOS (same thing?) are pretty fortunate. Enjoy! HP
hbpatter83 Posted October 4, 2008 Author Posted October 4, 2008 Stunning. I love that top. Congrats. Thanks Fingers!! It's a keeper. HP
ask28 Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 You scored!! I was looking for a Premium Plus too, but the extra $1,000 for a top that was similar to the Standard seemed to be too extravagant an expense. However, you got one with a stunning flame. Are we permitted to know how much you spent for it?
