subsub74
Hi, I bought recently a Les Paul Traditional Pro. Pretty nice guitar, coil split etc. The problem is that I hear a hum, especially with the overdrive channel (I have a brand new Blackstar HT-5R amp). and when I put the palm of my hand on the bridge, it almost disappears. I do not have the same problem with my Ibanez guitar... Any idea to help me? Can it be a ground problem? I can post the picture of the wiring... Thanks. badbluesplayer
Yes - it could be a ground problem. If you have an ohm meter, check to see if there's continuity between the strings and the bare ground wire inside the control cavity. If you don't have meter you can take a 9v battery and a piece or two of wire and check the continuity with your tongue. The ground wire should be hooked up to the bridge or tailpiece so that the strings are grounded. Also, if you have any dimmers in your house they need to be turned off, or you can have hum problems. Thanks, I have an electronic ohm meter, I checked the following way: connected the red probe to the strings, then I plugged the jack and I connected the black probe to the other jack connector. Got "almost" 0 on the ohm meter... with some fluctuations up to 8-10 Ohms. by the way, I found this forum: http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/gibson-les-pauls/133599-traditional-pro-wiring-problem.html
subsub74
Finally sent back to Gibson: they replaced the toggle switch... Now it's OK.
