silver
Hi Everyone, Could anybody please give me some more info about the standard strings that come with the j185? I mean gauge, type etc.. Thanks, Cisco
Danner
Surely they come with Gibson Masterbuilt Premium Phosphor Bronze Light Gauge strings (12 to 53).
rar
Surely they come with Gibson Masterbuilt Premium Phosphor Bronze Light Gauge strings (12 to 53). That's one theory. :) Check out Bltprf502's in this recent thread. And I can confirm that guitars brought over to Music Villa from the factory during the recent Gibson Homecoming has 80/20 (seemingly-coated) strings on them. -- Bob
Jeremy Morton
Gibson 80/20 .12 to .53 coated are put on virtually all instruments that are sent out of the Gibson factory. Daddario 80/20 exp lights are most likely going to be the closest replacements. Hope that helps. Jeremy

EuroAussie
Any reason why 80/20's, that surprised me quite a bit ? Understand the coated bit (good move) but why 80/20's ... Jeremy Morton
All i am able to tell you is what is going on guitars at the current time not 7, 10 or 15 years ago as I am sure that we have used different strings in the past. Strings are like picks and amps and guitars, you have to find what works for you and once you do you are all set.
