Geff
I am almost certain that it would affect it in some way. And if it does, it will affect the value of your axe. If, however, you dont actually care about re-sale, why worry. Trust me though. Stickers will not make an SG look better, no matter how cool you think they are. Why mess with a classic design. On one hand, the chances of anything TERRIBLE happening is small, the chances of the glue in the stickers causing blistering and permanent marking aren't THAT likely. But then again, I don't think anyone would want to stick their neck out and say "Hell yeah! get those stickers on" - no one wants that on their conscious. You could do the old advice of "try testing it on an inconspicuous area first" - have you got any off cut offs of the sticker around the edges? (you know the back bit left when you take the sticker off?) try unscrewing the pick guard and putting it on their, leaving it a month, then lifting it off to see if it's effected the finish. Bookkeeper's Son
I'm not sure about nitro lacquer, but there's an obvious football-shaped mark on a poly-coated Squier that I bought used, obviously caused by a sticker that was there. The guitar was only a year or two old when I got it, so it wasn't like the sticker had been there for several years.
BigKahune
. Two issues - both have been mentioned above - Shadowing - whenever you cover part of the finish that area will not age at the same rate as the exposed finish. If you take the sticker or pickguard off after a length of time (which can be short in same instances), often a "shadow" in the shape of the sticker or pickguard will be visible. Reaction - when you stick or lay anything against the finish (especially nitro), be sure it will not react with the finish and leave damage like "melt", bubbling or discoloration. theForgottenCereal
Just do what I do... leave the instrument alone and put stickers all over the case.
AlanH
hoo hoooo... hmm, this is like recommending unprotected sex. Is unprotected sex recommended? Will it affect the wood in any way? What about the finish?

Hi, Thanks for your response all you guys ! really appreciate it. The reason i wanted to add stickers to it, was because i had a few lying arround. I thought it would be neat to 'personalise' my SG ( not to be a poser or something like that ) . The best thing for me would be to stick them to the body. But i will just stick them onto the pickguard.I got a jimi hendrix vinyl sticker and i placed it, in between the pickups. Thanks for your advice, maybe saved me some regrets !
