Black plastic bridge pins

Does anyone know where I can find original style black plastic bridge pins for a 1974 square-shoulder J-45?

It was my first guitar and though I don't really play it anymore, it has sentimental value to me and I want to return everything back to stock...

Stewart-MacDonald has original style tuners and I still have the strap button but I've looked around on-line and can't seem to find the bridge pins...

Can anyone help?

Thanks...

Don

.

Black and original style to a 74 J45 might be a tough set to find.

Just basic black plastic without dots is scarce - http://www.allparts.com/Black-Plastic-Bridge-Pins-p/bp-0676-023.htm

Sorry I don't have more help.

Thanks, BigKahune, but I looked at those before and unfortunately they aren't the right size - AllParts can be like that - lotta generic parts for I don't know what...

One more suggestion -

When ever you have a chance to stop at a shop, go in and ask - not only at the retail desk, but at the repair desk too. Sometimes they've got odd parts lying around left over from upgrades and repairs.

That's a good idea - next time I'm up in town I'll try that...

... $24 seems a bit pricey for 6 plastic pins though ...

Well, they're really nice plastic pins -- they're made from some really rigid stuff, casein-based (like Galalith) IIRC -- much more like '30s so-called "bakelite" (actually celluloid) pins than modern soft plastic pins. So, three times the price of a set of Martin plastic pins, but at least three times as nice.

OTHO, I can understand someone balking at $24 for plastic pins, no matter how nice.

Good luck on the search!

Thanks, Bob, I hadn't seen those on Elderly before - $24 seems a bit pricey for 6 plastic pins though - especially for a guitar I don't really play - I'll ponder that one though and keep looking around for other alternatives...

I will buy you the pins if you don't want to pay for them yourself. The money you will spend driving around to guitar shops looking for them will eclipse that $24 soon enough. PM me your address and I will have them sent right away.

I agree! About balking.....and the fact that they look to be really nicely made pins!

I would spring for them, if they were what I wanted. I MEAN ...What price for authentic restoration? Been there and done that, myself>
