Kimbabig
If it's going to have a hedaphone jack, it's going to be solid state, and for that I wouldn't bother with an amp I'd get a recording device with a headphone jack.
Bookkeeper's Son
The Roland Cube (I have one) and Vox Valvetronix modeling amps (my buddy has one) will do quite well, and I've read reviews and seen several forum posts that were quite positive about the new Fender Mustang amps. If you prefer tubes, there are some other possibilities in that price range, like the Fender Vibro Champ XD (another friend has its big brother, the Super Champ XD), as well as others - not sure about the phone jack, though. neilpanda
Fender Mustang II is a great amp right in the price range. It's a great solid state amp, one of my favorites. also has tons of amp models that cover almost all genres of music.

G McBride
I have the Vox VT30 Amp and it is right in that price range. Great little amp with good modeling of others built in. Even sounds pretty good playing through it's one speaker. I would recommend that amp to you.

dbreslauer
+1 on Fender Mustang series (my son has a Mustang I and after playing with it I got myself a Mustang III). Both can also be used as recording interfaces to PC and are surprisingly versatile.

bonzoboy
You can't go wrong with the Vox,you've made a wise choice.I have a Vox AD 120 VTH and it is a fabulous amp with very convincing models and the effects are second to none. The difference with the Vox Hybrids is that the 12AX7 tube is in the power amp rather than the preamp as on most hybrids and this gives the Vox a more realistic tubelike response.
