The first for me was definitely Ace. I didn't even know what a Les Paul guitar was, but I remember looking at all those photos of him and his guitar on the KISS Alive and Alive II albums. Then reading the liner notes and it said something like "KISS plays Gibson guitars and Pearl drums because they only want the best." [thumbup]

While this guy wasn't a dedicated LP player, I always loved the way Mark Knopfler made them sound...





Oddly enough, most of the recorded Dire Straits material, and Mark's solo stuff, were recorded using that very LP and not a strat. That Lp happens to be a genuine '59 (nice being a rich rock star eh!) and it's understandably his favourite. Unfortunately, he doesn't travel and perform with it anymore because no insurance company will cover it's travel time, worth too much. Pity...
