pastorharry
I just recieved an '05 J45 I bought 2nd hand and love it already-very balanced and sweet! However I am not a plugged in gig guy, and this pickup kinda bugs me-lookin' at the red/black wire, the battery encased at the neckblock, etc. Plus I know I'll NEVER use it. Has anyone removed one of these? Main question, I guess ,is what about the endpin dealybob-do I just have to leave that in, or can a standard endpin fit once the metal offender is removed. Thanks in advance.Pastor Harry BTW; used to have 3 martins and one gibson, now I have 3 gibsons and one martin!!
Lefty Guy
I removed the pick-up from my 2005 J45 after it detached itself during a flight from UK to US. It never worked well so I replaced with a B-band on return to the UK. The battery is merely glued to the neckblock (hence my problem in the heat during transit) so easily removable. guitarstrummer
I've heard of a couple places that make/sell oversized end pins that should fit the enlarged hole. You might try Bob Colosi and I've also heard that Taylor makes one that will fit. http://www.guitarsaddles.com/ Elderly's also has this ebony one. Not sure of the size, but you could call them and ask. http://www.elderly.com/accessories/items/GA20.htm
modoc_333
your saddle will sit lower without the pickup under it.... you will either need to shim it or replace it.
pastorharry
Thanks for the quick responses gang! I got all the contraptions removed and ordered an oversized endpin and bone saddle from Bob Colosi. Many Mahalos! PH
