Not-Too-Late
In my search for strings that would produce a nice clean mellow tone, I came up with these by DR. I thought I would try the mediums and go on from there. Has anyone here tried these? I would like to know your oppinion on them please. http://www.drstrings.com/catalog/pure-blues
Pete B
If you follow their link to artists who use em it seems that Eric Clapton has changed his name to Trey Anastasio, Funny that cause I'm sure Eric last sponsored Ernie Ball.

Not-Too-Late
Here are the strings that Les Paul apparently used . . . so says Gibson. Is this an obvious case of raking in the doe-ray-me or what, using two of the biggest names in the music industry in order to jack up their prices? I'm sure they are excellent strings though. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/gibson-lps-les-paul-signature-electric-guitar-strings
rdsmith3
I use these strings and I like them a lot. I use the 10-46 set. I have read reports that some people experience inconsistent quality with them, FWIW, but this has not been an issue for me.
lonesomeagle1
Use them on everything except my son's LP Custom & Strat(he prefers EB). I use 9's on all LPs & SG and 10's on my Dot. Great tone and they last forever! (although I try to regularly change) Highly recommended! Pete

Not-Too-Late
Sounds like they are worth a try. Cheers!
ArgonautIOI
I use them on My EPI Dot and my LP Goldtop,(10-46) on both. The strings are smooth and have a great tone. They last a long time and if you clean them after you play, they keep just a little more of the brightness in thier tone. Argo

I can certainly see that they would give warmth, but perhaps a slight sacrifice in playablity. Since I have never tried them, I can only assume . . . and you know what they say about assume. Think I'm gonna switch to DR/PBs 10s on the rest-Nitehawk,SG and MIM Strat. I think it's the nickel that makes them sound so nice. As far as bending...the 11's are a little stiff, but you get used to it real quick!

damian
I have not used that brand, but pure nickel strings are more mellow, and are easier on frets......I use E.Ball strings..... On my Gibby Pauls, I'm trying out switching out the zinc alloy Gibby hardware to solid brass hardware, so that I can use pure nickel strings, with proper rock tone.... IMHO, most QUALITY brand pure nickel strings will be quality.....
