Anyone know what year Zappa's SG is from? I had one just like it, same bridge and tuners.

The Bridge in pic above is from a 1972 SG Standard - perhaps helps date yours.

FZ's SG above is claimed to be handmade, though I suspect it started life as a 1964 SG Special as it has the small headstock , then FZ had it modified - extended fretboard 23 frets,+ inlays, creme body inlay and odd wooden inlay plugs below tailpiece where former vibrola screws were. . Electronics include Dan Armstrong Green Ringer, coil split + phase switches, Schaller tuners. Routed for full size PAF type pickups.

This is a pic of same guitar with an ABR-1 Bridge

". . . This instrument hasn´t the bigsby vibrato system (very hard to keep in tune), and counts with an extra fret. You can hear this guitar in the Zappa in New York album or in Sheik Yerbouty.

During these years, although he still played mainly guitars from the guys at Gibson (who NEVER contacted him to talk about a signature model... "

I believe this is the same guitar with P-90s - pre modifications
