Helping Determining Les Paul Type

I came across a picture of a beautiful Les Paul but it didn't have any information about it. I want to know more about what series it is and the name of the finish.

It looks like the metallic blue, but I'm not sure.

Can anybody give any information on it?

sorry man, but I don't have a clue as to which model... try asking mike@gibson. He seems to know just about everything there is to know.

What I can tell you is that it's not a reissue or a custom. It's likely a USA model, possibly a GOTW. as for pups... could be a 57 classic with a zebra. other than that I don't know.

Good luck, and sorry for my lack of knowledge.

hey check this out. i googled for "1981 Les Paul Standard" and found this one:

looks almost exactly like the OP's except for the bridge(a different-type of nashville TOM) and knobs(probably replaced as is the switch tip) but i'm pretty sure its from the same era.

to the thread starter, what's the Serial no. on yours?

That picture is all I have. I found the pic on a website and thought that it looked very sharp. I couldn't find any other pics or information about it. So I thought I would ask the experts here. You've all given me some great info. Someone in another forum also suggested that it was from the early 80's and the finish was Candy Blue. Thanks again for all the helpful posts.
