NGD! Les Paul Studio 60s Deluxe

Picked this up this morning at GC. Used their 15% off coupon this morning to save some cash. This thing is really nice. Coil Tap volume pots. 490R in the neck BurstBucker Pro in the bridge. All CTS pots hand wired (No PCB). Weight relived, not chambered. 60s neck profile. Book-matched top, took me 15 minutes to find the seam. Very nice contrast to my Studio faded. Sold the Studio faded anyway to help pay for this so...

This went back to Guitar Center. Had a pretty bad ding in the neck that I didn't pick up at first. Wasn't really the color I wanted anyway. I have a Cherry Sunburst on order to replace it. Only GC that had one locally was in the City, and I am not paying the sales tax in Cook County. Should be here tomorrow.

I'll update with new pics when it comes in.

There's actually a lot more to this story, but the GC rep really took care of business, so I am good.

Got the new one today by UPS. It's always nice to be the first one to open the box. I still cannot understand why Guitar Center insists on having all of their stock on display where everyone can get their hands on it. My house is filled with the aroma of fresh Nitro.

This one is CHERRY! Setup went a smooth as silk (not the factory setup, it was hot garbage), and she plays like butter.

Now the problem I have is I want to put a pickgaurd on it, but my heart is telling me no.

Plus I plan to add phase switches, and the pickgaurd would hide those (similar to Page's setup)

Follow your heart... but I vote yes on the pickguard. msp_thumbup.gif

Nice axe!

First one was Vintage Sunburst. Just wanted to keep what I owned consistent :)

But in any case I fixed it [thumbup]

FYI Gibson, you really need to consider a better shipping package for expensive, fragile, instruments. A bare case in a box with some bubble wrap in the bottom and a cardboard brace to hold the neck end centered? This is a horrible, and CHEAP design for an expensive instrument. If it wasn't for my now damaged case, I would also have a damaged Les Paul Studio Deluxe.

Granted. Guitar Center could've re-packaged it better.

Congrats on the new guitar! I bought one (Vintage Sunburst) back in February 2011, and I love it! The factory setup works great with my playing style, so I can't complain. I agree with the poor packaging used by Gibson (my first studio deluxe 60's had the toggle switch completely snapped off, but I got a replacement that was perfect. Glad it all worked out for you.
